The Barnett Shale Continues To Screw Me
« on: June 23, 2008, 07:49:00 PM »
My property values have increased. I get royalties for my gas wells. I am paid to be a certified disposal site for drilling mud. They pay me to survey my land for further exploration. Now they want to dig water storage facilities on my property and pay me to let them.

I am going to own a private lake and get paid for it.

Gloom, despair and agony on me...
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

In a roundabout way they will be paying me to stock it. I get paid damages for the construction then paid for the water they draw from it.

Ick.  You're letting put an injection disposal well on your land?  Or did you already have one.

I made damn sure my lease forbade that. You use well or city water?

Pretty soon your going to have to turn Republican.  Property is theft.   :devil

No injection well. I was going to use an abandoned 4500ft well for one, but it was cost prohibative. The mud is surface farmed. This new program for water storage is cool. I had planned on building a new stock pond anyway. Now it will be a small lake and they will pay me to do it. :D

Just goes to show how things are different in different parts of the country.

Here in NJ they would have simply condemned the portions of land they wanted to use and taken it over not giving you a Penny more then "Fair market Value" on the condemned land.

Also a lesson in how fickle fortune is.
Always amazed me how somepeople just naturally seem to have things fall into their laps.
While someone else can waste their life away working like a whipped dog fighting tooth and toenail to succeed and only end up sliding farther and farther down a hole for their efforts.
