Glad to hear it is working out for you.  My home value has dropped since they started drilling about a mile from me.  Everyone in the neighborhood was so freaking short-sighted they did not consider long term ramifications at all and did not care to listen either.

We used to have a nice looking neighborhood.  It's now looking like a war zone complete with barb wire fencing and craters.

People are moving out as fast as they can now and renting the homes out.  The whole neighborhood has gone to crap.

The City of Grapevine has completely sold out to them and is granting them easement wherever they want to drill.  A new well is being drilled behind the Best Buy.  A park has been torn out for another new well.  A through road which would have eased traffic on one of hte main thorough fares has been cancelled so they can drill where it was going to go.  Wonder what will happen to the bond money that was approved for that construction?

No telling what this area will look like in a few years.  I am looking at putting up iron fencing and bars for the windows to protect my family from the people I have seen roaming through our neighborhood.  I am so angry it is hard to talk about it without going absolutely berzerk.

are you freaking kidding me?  they can just rip out parks and drill behind stores and whatnot?  is this because of the supreme court eminent domain decision? or has oil always had the right-of-way in texas?

As skuzzy mentioned, the City has COMPLETY sold out to the driling companies.
all city owned property is fair game. Parks, roadways, easements, and if they want to dril in your back yard...Imminent domain comes into play.

Glad I live in Rowlett now. So nice and peacful, get off work, pick up the wife, cruise around the lake on my bike...good times.

BTW skuzzy, there are some homes for sale in my neighborhood. You can get some great deals right now
Crap now I gotta redo my cool sig.....crap!!! I cant remeber how to do it all !!!!!

Skuzzy, if there is a good news side to it, after they finish drilling it should return fairly close to what it looked like before. When the rig moves out all that is left is a small wellhead and a road to service it.

Emminent domain doesn't really come into play. The way it works is the owner of the mineral rights has priority over owner of surface property. Emminent domain enters the picture when they want to put a pipeline in. Pipelines have emminent domain powers as a public utility.

The problem after they finish drilling is all the damage doen to the public roads as they haul all thier equipment in and out.  The road where we were to get some triaffic congestion relief (needed very badly) cannot be used now as there will be a wellhead in the middle of where the road would have been and there is nowhere else for the road to go.

The road to the park is through a residential area at the end of my block.  The damn noise from the trucks coming and going and the damage to the streets has been intolerable.

There is no way I can sell my home.  Even after the jerks finish, the roads are still going to be destroyed.  The city does not appear to give a crap about it either.  Who would buy a home near this mess?  I know I wouldn't.

There is no good news for me.  The quality of life went into the toilet.  We do not stand a chance either as the city has provided a loop hole for these idiots to apply for zoning changes and get them rubber stamped on the spot.  Before anyone can get out of bed, another drill rig is being put up.

Always amazed me how somepeople just naturally seem to have things fall into their laps.
While someone else can waste their life away working like a whipped dog fighting tooth and toenail to succeed and only end up sliding farther and farther down a hole for their efforts.

Have seen this a lot. Life is a frickin lottery, but that's no excuse for not working hard trying to get what/where you want.

It should be in the contract with the city for the driller to pay all damages to roads, fields, ect. The problem is there is nothing in the law that forces the city to use that money to actually repair your street. Look for the City Council to all be driving new Escalades. If you have a HOA, then they collected the damage money and signed off on the drilling.

I have an HOA and City Council. Both consist of... me! Man, I'm glad I moved back to the country!
Storch, I'll think of you everytime I go lay on the beach of my private villa. I hope you think of me everytime you get a utility bill.:D

Perhaps I missed the jump here, but I thought we were talking about Jersey.
