Just about ready to call MS
« on: June 24, 2008, 01:11:38 PM »
When I reloaded Windows xp pro they said that I have loaded it too many times at registration. This also happened with my Windows xp office pro. So now I need to talk to them and hopefully get it settled. Any suggestions?

I've loaded my XP Pro probably at least a dozen times since I bought it in late 2002.  I imagine you're using a new XP disc older than what I have (pre-service packs for me).

Same here but don't upgrade to SP3 if you have a XP disk with SP1 or SP2, you won't be able to use them after upgrading to SP3.  When you try, you'll get an error message stating that the XP CD you're trying to use has an older version of the OS that is currently installed.  If you upgrade to SP3, make sure that your XP CD is one with SP3.

I don't recall if I had to talk to anybody or if it was automatic or not, but it's a fairly painless thing to do. I've had to 1 or 2 times over the years. If anybody actually talks to you and asks why, just say hardware upgrade or something like that.

just call the number, its automated. ive done it a few times (all legit) and it doesnt seem like very AI to me, I suspect it will give you activation whatever you say after the "is it your copy" questions. just make sure you write the code down, its really long. :uhoh

Wow, they took both registrations. I was so worried. In a way it was MS fault. I did a back restore using there program and it caused major issues. Now I can back these puppies up.
