no fanfare for iPhone 2.0?
« on: June 24, 2008, 10:13:03 PM »
c'mon!  People here should celebrate Apple's 3G iPhone release!  For those who decided not to buy last year, it was worth the wait!

New iPhone features

   1. 3G connectivity
   2. OLED screen
   3. Thinner profile than previous model
   4. More powerful battery

in all reality, they are more expensive due to hidden costs

Meh...just another cellphone with extra flair.

I'd rather spend the money on my car.

what hidden costs are those? looks like a bargain to me - £100 for a decent smart phone, iPod and sat-nav in one device, I'll be ordering :aok

I might get one if I didn't have to switch to AT&T to do so.  Don't care enough about it to make that switch.

I'm tempted - although the HTC Touch Diamond and Sony Ericsson Experia X-1 have my attention also.

No

Here in the States the cost difference is in the rate plan with AT&T. I have the first gen iPhone and my data plan is unlimited for $20 a month. The second gen's data plan is $60 bucks. I paid $435 for my first gen and will be buying a second gen for half that brand new.

Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu. But I think it's Colin. - Tim Vine.

not that I know of, but now the iPhone OSX SDK is out it shouldn't be too long til someone does it - configuring it as a wireless gateway should not be too tricky :)
