Game Maps

What i would like to see is this, concerning the game map.

Like before a mission, I would center the clipboard and zoom the map to the range I like to view it at.

Now during the mission when i go back to the map, it would be nice if it came back to the same position every time, with respect to being centered on my screen and zoomed to the degree I prefer.

Also, how did you guys come up with the grid numbering system? Wouldn't it have been much more simple and straight forward to use letters across one side and numbers down the other? Like the maps in RB3D, would be an example.

Calling out a grid reference like A6 seems much easier than 10,6  or 6,14. Confusing, LOL, S!

SgtSpike'
Left click on the + sign on the map, hold it down and drag it to the very bottom of the screen untill you cannot see your cursor.  Release the left click.  It will stay there for the duration of that sortie.

Eskimo, thats the same as doing a "Z". I think what Spike means, is to actually display a new map of the actual airfield and where everything is. An intell map would surely have gun placements and such, which the navigator would be calling out to pilot and bombadier alike. Knowing which way the runway is positioned, large or small field, and others is needed.

It reads to me that spike wants to be able to zoom his map in and then the next time he calls it up he wants it zoomed in like he had it before - something it doesn't do and which is a PIA meaning you're forever having to get your mouse to zoom it in again.

Pressing Z doesn't do that, it just enlarges the centre of your screen and eskimo's method only works until you press escape so you can see past the map

But if spike wants airfield layout maps he could try these

The clip board will stay where you put it, unless you move it off the screen. This was done this way because durring the early alpha days we found out it was posible to move the clip board to far off the screen and you couldn't drag it back.

There is also Right clicking of the + and - which will zoom the map and not size the clip board.

HT, could you add a keyboard assigned control to the + - buttons that we currently have to use the mouse for ? I initially thought it was the [ and ] keys but that doesn't work either.

I have my entire set of controls on a HOTAS system, and there is nothing more I hate than having to pull my hands off in a fight to reach for a mouse.

Purty Please?

Dang HT when did that rightclick trick arrive?

I've never seen that mentioned before and I could have done with that higher zoom earlier
