Cross-country PM
« on: June 27, 2008, 09:02:54 AM »
I was going to say just get rid of it but there are times that I have decent discussions with opponents after a fight.

On the other hand, most of it is abusive.  I think there should be an option to allow or not allow in-game PM.  Something like a message in the text buffer; "scumball has tried to PM you.  Type .yes scumball to read."  Then scumball is able to PM you until you type .no scumball.

I have been on the receiving end of both good and bad PM's Bald, and I wholeheartedly agree with this idea. :aok

I think a better way would be a checkbox that defaults to off for "accept cross county PMS". That way you can turn it on if you choose, but new players aren't subjected to some of the assinine things that people sometimes PM.

But generally, yes I agree with you that some solution would be of benefit.

H2H being gone, best thing that happened to AH in a long time.
Actually...it is the worst, cause all the dweebs that had unlimited ammo now invade the MA.

And in some instances, they take it with em.  :noid :noid :noid

wheres the fun in blocking PM's   :t

there is the squelch option if they get abusive.  Usually though its someone who is angry and annoyed you shot them down and winding them up further is priceless.   I like telling them what they did wrong!

I think the horrible PMs are one of the funniest aspects of the game.

Once you are comfortable with the game, and aware of the tools for dealing with anything really abusive, then there's probably less reason for wanting this to be available, although I suspect that some would leave it off, especially if squad members were exempt.

But when you are just starting out in the sim and not sure if you fit in, getting a rant and rave PM can be very unnerving - and after a couple of them, I know I seriously considered dropping AH and going back to WWIIOL, despite dissatisfaction with the air to air portion of that sim. I honestly think that it's in HTC's better interest to ensure that there is a delay before new players are exposed to them - but that's just one man's opinion.

Ideally, I think that some arena's (training, DA) as well some players (trainers, squadmates) should be able to PM and VOX cross country regardless of the checkbox, however.
