Tank Commander Option?

Could you give your pintle driver some Binoculars? It's not too hard to ask for and it could zoom in a good bit farther than the MG but still not as far as the gun. Or farther than the gun... Dont matter to me. It would make GV'ing alot different and would make people have to start re-evaulating their tactics.

ex. Somebody is camping a spawn, get in a Jeep, look around, tower out, up Sherman, and kill them. :)

is there any proof that pintle drivers had bionoculars? :huh
i like the idea and it seems like good way to see farther but this game tries to make their changes based on items that were used(not saying bionoculars were not used) but are there any recorded docs of pintle gunners using bionoculars to see farther??

Yes, but wouldn't you want to be able to hit your binoculars and zoom further? Maybe even further than your tank gun to sight in? Or just a bit shorter than it, but farther than your pintle gun.

And Ian, in plenty of old WW2 films, you'd see tank commanders w/ binoculars.

The Zoom option is all one needs.  We don't need a Zoom for the Zoom.

No I dont play the game. Just saying, that sometimes, it's a real annoyance when you are in a pintle trying to look for stuff. And when you're in the Main gun, it's just as bad w/ alot of vehicles. (T-34, Tiger for example.) Binoculars could be a real nice addition to the game.

oh and WMLute, with the Z, ] thing would still apply to the binoculars. It would just Zoom in farther than the Pintle Gun.

I agree with this idea.

GVs are still very, very darn small in the pintle gun view. I've been finding that Panzers, Tigers, Flaks, and the other mottled GVs are reasonably easy to spot in pintle view, but the Shermans and other uniform olive drab GVs are darn near impossible to spot against the MA's uniform drab green terrain, in pintle view. It is a real problem-spotting German tanks vrs. the Shermans. It is like looking for guys in street clothes in the woods vrs. guys in full camo.

 You have turret view of course, but with this "binocular" or whatever zoom available on pintle view you could look around with faster rotation without getting your turret all out of alignment.

I've got a really easy solution for HT to implement this.  First, disable zoom in the pintle gun.  Then, re-enable it and tell everyone it's binoculars.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

The max zoom being what it is in the pintle gun, looking for GVs in it right now is not like looking around sans binoculars. Its like looking arounds sans binoculars AND with a pretty bad case of myopia.
