Whirblewind fix
« on: June 29, 2008, 09:05:21 AM »
I was shooting at a WW the other day,hit him right in the tracks with a HVAP from a t-34 and got nothing,he did not even get tracked,I have hit WW's with Ap many times and cant seem to kill em in one shot very often..Also,it seems to me that the pintle is way overmodeled and I dont believe I have ever seen it destroyed on any WW I have ever upped.

If the pintle was that tough, then so be it,but it seems to not be able to get destroyed..
                                                       Thanks,

I agree, the Wirble needs a fixin'. You can put round after round in them from a tiger and they still keep shooting and driving. It used to be that if you got a GV smoking then either the engine was out or that the turret was out. With the wirble, that is not the case anymore.

Thats wierd, I put round after round into them with a panzer and they blow up...   :noid  The lower hull of the WW is a panzer lower hull and can take a hit sometimes.  Like any of the GVs there are strong points and weak points to hit.  Aim where you will hit the weaker points. Others may diasagree but I feel that, from the front, the upper hull of the WW is the aim point to kill it. Hitting it in the lower hull or too near the sides, such as above the tracks seems harder to get a kill.  Of course, since WW are not often concerned with hull facing direction, you often get side an rear shots which are fairly easy kills to make.

Or what I have started doing lately, hit the turret with a round, that kills the quad 99 times out of a 100 (or more) then ignore it if there are targets that can kill you, like tanks.  When the tanks are all gone, finish off the WW unless it has towered out.
Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time

Well,I feel if I hit one with an AP round in the tracks,it should be tracked, and the pintle gun is way too tough I believe.

Uh-oh.... Now the WW needs to be fixed if it got to FALCON.... :O

(I'm all for it, I've shot a WW in the back 3 times w/ AP from a Pnzr, nothing)

Oh and FALCON, if it's close, dont use HVAP, use AP. Only use HVAP for long distances. :aok

No. High-Velocity Armor Piercing rounds are well... higher velocity than regular AP rounds. But to go along with this they are lighter so they lose effectiveness at long range.

I've never had trouble with WW's. Every time I've hit one under say 2,400 yards, either the first on kills it or disables its turret or engine and then the second shot kills it. I can kill their turret from aircraft rather easily as well.

Shhh, turreting flaks with plane MG's and Cannon are now deemed "Cheap kills" by some.

Don't forget the M-8 turrent is way over modeled. I bounced two rounds from an M-4 off of one last night, point blank range. One round to the body killed it. So it must be over modeled. Only explanation. A round from the Firefly should not bounce off an M-8 turret.

Or it could be something else........... :t

i dont got enough perkies as it is and i like upen my lancs to kill 1 dang t 34 or wirble its fun droping 42 bombs

The M-8's are super uber. I once over 20 rounds into one from less than 100 yards (he got stuck on a beach). I didn't get the kill until he towered out

It's impossible, as the Wirbelwind has no pintle gun. Not sure what you're referring to.

Some twit in MW was claiming that when I picked off his weeble wobble in a B-25H.  Demanded I up a weeble wobble myself and 'prove' myself.  Ghost66 can be a laugh.
