Idea for AvA Staff analisis: Ace of Aces

Dear Staff,

Here goes one very simple idea for the interwar periods (duration between 2 and 5 days): Ace of Aces.

Only fighters of early and mid-war periods enabled.
One map with only six enabled fields, three to each side, far apart but not too far, all indestructable, all uncapturable, ack at maximum level.
One base for American planes, one for British, one for Russian, one for German, one for Italian, one for Japanese. All in, all apart.
No troops enabled.
No strat system.
No bombs or rockets enabled.

Wins the side with best kill/death ratio. The highest scoring pilot wins "Ace of Aces" title.

Simple, isn´t it?

Mein Herr...humm...er...There's that small line, it reads: wins the side with the best k/d ratio...And there would be the possibility of training wingman tactics, schwarme, ganging, whatever...

That is not 100% true, because I like it and it makes us two...

I would choose k/d ratio for side victory to reward efficiency instead of pure ferocity. Call it an invitation to land kills and to avoid the fight to the last round...I thought it would be interesting to reward the best side not only for having the highest number of kills but also the lowest number of deaths.

But the "Ace of Aces", the pilot, would be chosen by the simple and absolute number of kills, regardless.

you can just do that on DA.

You can bomb sheds, fight in tanks, and PT boats, in the DA too. Funny nobody ever brings that up though.

I like the basic concept, it would promote tactical thinking, situational awareness and all that.

What about exploits and griefer tactics? Someone from the other side could easily log on and generate a lot of deaths in a short amount of time for the opposing team.  :(

griefers are and always will be.  It would be an interesting diversion between frames I think.

ill second that motion. im a deck dweeb. i dont like those long rides to 27k. certain players would be put at a disadvantage if they cant go above 10k though. is it fair to them?? OMG they would have to learn how to fight heheheh

Sounds like a good idea but the only thing would be numbers. If there are say, this is just an example... 7 allies and 2 axis, why would the axis guys up to fight? or vice versa.

a 7 allied to 2 axis players in my book is a disadvantage for the allieds.  :D
