Todays AVA
« on: July 07, 2008, 07:29:41 AM »
Hi folks,
this is not a insult to anyone or anything. just my 2 cents. I used to really enjoy the AVA. it had different maps, different plane sets and the wars were fun, because it would last x amount of time and then it would be over(much like it is now). each week you got newer planes or different planes and at the end, they would give out the jets on a limited basis. there were always fights someplace and you could get into some nice fights or at the very least get a good spanking by someone hehehe.

now i go in there, i fly around for a half an hour and find nothing, nobody, no where. i occationally run into the regulars but theres no communication so i dont know where the bad guys are.

now im not saying the current set up is a bad thing, its different for sure, and the guys that fly it are having a great time and im not knocking it in any way. but for people like me flying solo, its not as much fun as it used to be.

flying with a squad is an advantage to the AVA im sure, but not flying with one is a definite hinderance and it really shouldn't be that way. it should be fun for everyone. yes we have those people who are gamey and dweeby and do things considered un-ethical, but the AVA really should be fun for everyone and not a select few.

anyway just an observation, no insult intended. i will always support the AVA even though im not as much part of it as i would like to be. maybe if things change a bit ill be able to go back in there and have some fun. thanks for listening and have a nice day  :)

Jaeger,

There are problems with dead days because of the nature of the current war setup. Since the current war setup will probably go through an evolution you'll hopefully see things improve. I agree with you there are days when this is just flat boring, however it's not the end of the AVA as you know it. There will still be traditional AVA setups between wars, plus Bug is working on a fantastic idea for a campaign  series using more traditional AVA setups as the backdrop for war scenarios. This looks to be a great balance of War and fighting so both mud movers and furballers can enjoy at setup.

There's not going to be an activity that pleases everyone, even though I find the BOA a bit of a bore, it's worth it to fly it to support the AVA, and help the folks running these things find areas for improvement.

I much prefer the traditional setups, over the war setups and look forward to them in the near future. I don't understand what you mean by select few though. The numbers are up and  it's mainly seems to be people who like the war scenario. That's not a select few, that's a majority, like it or not. I do however agree with you the arena should appeal to as many as possible looking for historic plane matchups. Don't give up.

I hear ya on the flying alone. :(  But yet that is what I am choosing to do.  I had the same complaint early on and then joined an AvA squad.  The communication was way better. :salute

I always made sure to respond to the text in green. :aok  Concern over side switching and mission busting puts a clamp on the friendly information on country channel.  That is a wasted resource.  :uhoh 98% of the time, these are just casual AvA players with no affiliation or not "in the loop" left to their own devices.  As you pointed out that is not as much fun.  :o

What most of these guys want to do is join in and help.  Do you think MOTD could be helpful in any way?  :pray

im not leaving it, but im not playing as much as before either. was more fun when i was a full time player. now that my squad has pulled out, im a loner in there. this not, by any means meant as put down against them. they are a great bunch and i wouldnt enjoy it without them.

yeah if there was a channel all the loners where using it would be helpful to know. kind  of united separately. could put in in the AVA forum or on the MOTD. although i now don't have access to the AVA forum either.

Just think of the BOA as an experiment that will be improved upon.  It's almost over. :P

P.S. I agree with you.
