I'm all for sending fed troops in to help..........with the only caveat being we do nothing to help san fransisco........let them burn.

the way those hammerheads have treated our troops and military recruiting there is nothing short of treasonous ...... they can't have it both ways....

July 10 (Bloomberg) -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said his state is approaching a ``tipping point'' in its battle against more than 300 wildfires and needs federal help to turn the tide.

The state requires assistance, including from the military, after lightning sparked the blazes, which have been exacerbated by high temperatures and dry grass and brush, Schwarzenegger wrote in a letter sent to Republican President George W. Bush today.

``With more lightning storms forecast for later this week, we sit at a critical tipping point in California that requires immediate federal help and aggressive pre-positioning of federal resources,'' wrote Schwarzenegger, also a Republican. ``I respectfully request federal active duty forces.''

More than 1,090 square miles, an area roughly the size of Rhode Island, has burned in California since June 21, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, also known as Cal Fire. Excessive heat warnings and red flag warnings, which mean conditions are right for ``explosive fire growth,'' cover a 659-mile (1,060-kilometer) stretch from the Oregon border south to Los Angeles.

White House spokesman Scott Stanzel said federal officials are working with California to help battle the blazes and are reviewing Schwarzenegger's request.

California will get as many as 40 fire managers from Australia and New Zealand to help coordinate the battle against the fires. The group will arrive in the U.S. this weekend and will be dispatched to California after a training period in Boise, Idaho, said Don Smurthwaite, a spokesman for the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise. It will be the fifth time the two countries have sent the U.S. help.

Tho I dont like the things the protesters say in frisco, they have the right and the FREEDOMS to do so.
your right you cant have it both ways......either we have the freedoms to say what we want and protest or we live in a police society and have no freedoms.
I'm not wanting to spark a political debate on what freedoms we have and which ones have been stripped from us. Just saying that the freedoms we do have apply to everyone including people like the ones in your pic that are protesting....even if I dont like what they say
Crap now I gotta redo my cool sig.....crap!!! I cant remeber how to do it all !!!!!

not cali.........san Fransisco ..and those protesters unfortunately represent the majority when it comes to anit-military thinking in that city.

if we're getting into negotiations......... more specifically........just let Berkley burn down.  I'd be OK with that.

Wouldn't this be a good time to help them. This would actually show to them and the world that the military is batter than that? :O

Oh I don't know, seeing a squadron of C-130 water bombers flying over Berkley dumping yellow colored retardant might be kinda fun to watch. Wonder if they can die that stuff different colors?

The military folks who go to help will be thankful to get a chance to give those fire fighters a break, and hopefully make headway with those fires.

Why would they oppose that?  Because it's California?  Last I heard, California is still part of America...

The Soldiers are far, far, far above those protesters... and would never turn down the opportunity to help folks just to say 'neener-neener' to a few of those kooks out in that direction.

My brother and his wife, plus my parents, have been evacuated and it looks like they'll lose their homes. My parents are in their late 70s and have lived in the same residence for over 30 years-

I am disappointed some of you take such gleefulness in the distress of others, but frankly I'm not surprised.... However, I AM surprised at some of you over your inability to read a map. See, these are forest fires. If you look at a map of California you'll notice San Francisco doesn't HAVE any forests. These fires are affecting us in the rural areas of the State, not Berzerkley or San Francisco.

Oh, Zeta Nine? This is just about the dumbest thread anyone's ever started here- maybe we can share a good laugh the next time Florida gets wiped out by a hurricane and your neighbors lose their homes. Natural disasters- ruined lives- That's some funny stuff right there. You rock.
