You know when you're flying in a plane to lets say China, the person in the control tower speaks English... Same thing with almost any country. 

Exactly !!! The language of aviation is English. So if you're an airline pilot you need to know english. I don't believe that general aviation pilots have to learn english.

personally, i could care less, this is AMERICA... we should speak english not Spanish....

I could care less about obama, but I think he's just stressing the importance for US natives to learn some foreign language to give US businesses the competitive edge when making deals wiotgh foreigners.

Those of us who speak English should try to learn what we say is sometimes not what we mean.

If I could care less, that means that I do care at some level so that it is possible for me to care less than that level.

If I could NOT care less, it means that my level of care is so small it is impossible for me to care less.

It's great to learn languages, but is an obvious pandering to Mexicans and next small step to making Spanish first into "one of the acceptable US languages" and perhaps eventually the official language. At some point the hispanics will be a majority.

It's a matter of time when the schools will educate in Spanish only (they already do the idiotic and counterproductive bi-lingual crap). After all why should we inconvenience the illegal, if we can force our kids and teachers to learn Spanish (by a Presidential decree no less).

Why is the President (or a candidate) even involved in stuff like that. This is not in his job description. It is a business of the Congress either. Dept of Education should be abolished.

I didn't read all the posts so I don't know if someone else has already mentioned this, but in quite a few countries around the world they teach there students two languages, their native language & English.

I don't see anything wrong with our students to learn a second language, it's not like learning Spanish is going to hurt them or anything, if anything it's only gonna come in handy in their life's.
