Perk Points & Discos?
« on: March 22, 2001, 07:40:00 PM »
I just discod last night in my Arado which, needless to say, sucked the big one    However, when loggin back into the arena, my perk points were only down 52 for bombers, even though they were previously at 88 or thereabouts.

Do you only get half of the perkies taken away if you disco in a perk ride?  If so, I think that's a great comprimise.

good compromise but still this should be decreased, losing point due to system drop is very bad for custmer relations. Course you coud get abuse (boot machine when about to lose perkie) but still

How is that a great compromise?  Why wouldn't folks just yank the plug on their modem when they are about to die in a perk plane?

No, it has to be this way.

BTW, if you get disconnected, it is extremely unlikely that this has anything to do with HTC.  This is a problem with your connection to them.  They have no way to tell if it's because you alt-F4'd, pulled your modem cable, or whatever, so they have to treat 'em all the same.

My advice is not to fly the Perk rides when your connect is flaky or during peak Internet usage times.

Leph...

Step 1: Fill an ordinary glass with drinking water.
Step 2: Retrieve oral sedative pill from medicine cabinet.
Step 3: Ingest said pill with water from step 1.
Step 4: Continue reading . . .

I'm not saying it should only take half of the value of the perk ride away from you if you disco.  I'm saying it did only take half of the value of the perk ride away from me when I discod.

I started with almost 90 perk points for bombers.  I hopped in an Arado (70 perk points) and started a mission.  I discod.  When I got back into the arena, I immediately checked to see how many bomber perks I had left, and it was in the low 50s (don't remember the exact number).  That's about 35 perk points.

So, my question is, was this a fluke, or does the system really only take away half the perk points of a ride if you disco?  If it does, then great...I think that's a nice comprimise.  I only have to suffer half as much because some scumbag might have to "pull the plug" so that he doesn't loose his points.  If it doesn't, then maybe it's a bug that HTC would want to look at.

BTW...If you could tell me how to predict any random internet snafus that may happen while I'm flying in the future, I'd appreciate it.  The one in this incident occured because I'm a retard, and logged in through the main route, despite the fact that my connects are always much better through the alt route.  All the same, this method of foretelling a random event you speak of could come in handy!  Perhaps worthy of a late-night infommercial?

I have been on several times when the entire arena reset, you know it blips in middle of battle, you come back and its five people on where a moment ago was 130 and then often times the map is reset as well, and people go, 'total dump?' etc etc.  Saw it three times in ten minutes other day. So dont tell me its nothing to do with them, not always of course but it can be something to do with them and whats more they should be able to tell when people get mass booted.  You are right though, the pull theplug reboot is a possible abuse - but thenagain isnt the time it takes to get sys up n running again not a punishment enough? How often do you have time to head for the plug anyway?

Disocs take 1/2 perk points if you are totaly free from damage/ hits, if you have been shot a disco takes it's full value.

Heh, sorry, I didn't read that well enough to begine with.  Too much coffe.    SOB, at least you didn't direct me to take that sedative the other way.

Thanks for the clarification HT, I think that system makes sense.

Great... so a lucky spray and pray shot on an arado will loose the full 70 points on a disco or CTD (which I'm still having btw)?  I ask only because a Ta152 landed 1 lucky shot on my arado as I blew past him the other night, though he did no damage.  Luckily I had no problems that night and continued to fly the bird for another 3 hops in that sortie before landing and logging for the night
