Does it have anything to do with the book by Evan Wright?  I'm reading it now piece by piece as I have the time.

Watched the first one. No opinion yet, gotta see the next 2 or 3 episodes. The "hitlerstash" was kinda funny though.

Agreed. It looks well written. Hopefully it will stay that way.

I haven't read the books. What's the deal with the guy they keep calling gay? Gay or not, that guy is damn near a walking Adonis  :huh anybody that loads up their LBV with rocks, slaps on a gas mask, and sprints full speed around the camp for exercise is the kind of guy I'd want to go to war with.

I read the book and cought the first epp.  I loved it.  SOme the acting is  a little cheesy (like the Sgt Maj) however, alot of the other dialog is spot on with how Marines talk!

Damn, I really liked the book, showed modern Marines are much like their older comrades, at least on paper.

Great book.  FYI for those of you that read it, Sgt. Eric Kocher is the technical adviser on set, so it should be pretty faithful to the way it went down.
Can't wait to check it out.

I watched it last night, thought it looks pretty good so far, and from the previews of whats to come it looks to be a really good miniseries.

BTW, damn you GtoRA2, I thought I had a real bug on my screen, even grab a Kleenex to kill it.  :D

OK, I just watched the 2nd episode and I've made up my mind...

GET SOME!

This is every bit as good as Band of Brothers.

Let me rephrase the question so no one thinks I am talking smack about our military.  There is no shortage of colorful officer stories to be heard.  Since my father was an officer in the military I have heard a few but nothing like what is in this series.  Has anyone had the pleasure of working under a delightful, smiling person like SGT.MAJ. John Sixta?   Or do you think this actor’s representation is the entertainment business making it look worse than it is to be dramatic?  In the book I remember the character to be more annoying than anything but I read it a year or two ago.

Whether you’ve been the military or not everyone has heard that a lot of officers are ***bags.  Guess it depends on who you’re talking too.  (I have never been in but have heard) This sgt maj takes the cake.  Anyone in the military had the pleasure of serving with a guy like this?
