Good to see new skinners working at the craft!

Looks pretty good for a first skin; but names and numbers are backwards on the starboard side.   The yellow is too intense and should be either desaturated or have the opacity of the layer reduced some.

Probably, the bare aluminum wingtip should be paitedn as the rest - the bare section I think was unique to Fester's default skin subject.

Finally, underside looks too clean - needs oil and dirt smudges and streaks.

Really, very impressive first skin.

Is it just Jester or is that the default skin with different markings and some collor on the nose and tail?  :huh

No one ever said skins could not be inhanced versions of the default skin.

If anything that would help a constant for skins acrost one ac, imagine how many diffrent tints and shares of green we will be getting for the 39's for each and every skin released.

He'd better get permission if that's all he did. I wanted to modify the default F4U-1 (Walsh's bird) into Daphne C, which was the same aircraft with Walsh's "13" painted out (and still visible in all positions) but was given a red light when I asked.

Is it just you or now i'm gonna do skins just for my fun.

As sayd it was just my first skin test and I did it for fun and not to have your approval.
Yes I started from default skin since the base colors are more or less the same (if not for the different green on the tail) and the fuselage details are well done since they correspond to the P39 pictures I have...should I do it from new even if the STR 71 had just withe tail and some yellow details?

It's a default skin and there's no name of who did it and, above all, there are no rights on skins. So if I wish to modify skins of someone else, not in order to make a twisting, but just because the skin I wish to do has the same base i'm free to do it.
If not, then put rights on and update the rules for submit skins.

Ok, since I don't want to hurt anyone using existing skins ;) here what I did this morning, all details are self made and nothing has been taken from the existing immages.
For now I did the fuselage only (flanks) wich will need some corrections and more details.

Look harder. And there may be no legal rights, but it's definitely a courtesy. Plagiarism is plagiarism, and you're not liable to win many friends in the skinning side of the community. Now if you said in the first place what you were doing: Practicing your first skin by building it off the Default rather than leaving it to us to recognize that ourselves it would have been different. There's nothing WRONG with it if it helps you learn, but don't just come onto the board saying "Here's my new skin!" when all you did was change markings and insignia on the Default.

I never sayd i was going to send my skin to AH or something like that, just posted the work I did modifying the P39 skin, changing the green skin, modifying green camuflage, the belly and adding 72 st insigna. Did you never used based skins of someone else, insigna, colors ect?
As I have already sayd, on skins rules there's nothing about "never use others skins as start" and till it won't be written and skins still free to export it's not plagiarism.
Anyway, if one day i will have the skill to do a good skin, if based on someone else skin I will have certainly the courtesy to ask before to change anything

I dind't wanted to came to the board and hurt anyone, unlucky it's not the same will of those who have more experience.
If the words "Ok, that's my fisrt skin job, so don't hurt me " was understood as "i did all my self" then i'm sorry, my english isn't the best.

It's good to see new folks trying out skins.

Go ahead and edit existing ones.

Just keep in mind when you're done practicing, and want to create a skin for actual submission to HTC, that the level of scrutiny will match some of what you've seen here.

For practice, for fun, go for it! For real? Better put a lot of effort into it.  :aok
