Vehicle bases - ack & soft guns status
« on: July 14, 2008, 02:32:08 PM »
Someone in the know clarify please, I've gotten different answers to these questions:

Does the soft gun have to be down in order for troops to take at a v base?

Does an auto ack being up (the far one, not firing on your troops) have to be down for troops to take?

I have heard that being up or down has no effect, I have also heard that either or both being up is the same effect as a building being up in town, negates the troops. Anyone know?

Soft Gun (maned Ack) does not have to be down, in order to take a V-base.

All Auto Ack has to be down, in order to take a V-base.

just because it does not shoot at your troops does not mean it will not kill them.

A very long time again you could leave the far ack up and take a V-base but that has changed over time.

What Kilz Said is absolutely true.

Many a V-base captures have been spoiled due to one of the auto's coming up at the wrong time. As far as the manned goes, make sure it's down as well and remeber that it does not stay down nearly as long as the Auto so keep checking.

Anyone know how long the manned does stay down...never put a clock on it.

Interesting, Slapshot and Kilz, both of whom I would trust with an answer, gave different answers. This is how this convo goes. Hard to sort out.

Take it from a base taker, both auto's need to be down. Ensure your time is well spent by killing the manned or take it a step further and kill all hangers and rouge GV's as well.

Soft gun does not need to be down.  (but someone can up in it and kill troops)

Yes both auto acks need to be down.

That I didn't know ... It use to be if the ack couldn't or didn't shoot the troops ... you were OK. I stand corrected.

Just to sum things up:
Soft gun does not have to be down.  The only way that gun can kill troops is for someone to man it and shoot them.  The gun being up does not prevent a capture like having a town building up.
Auto ack has to be down.  The ack will not shoot or may not have a clear shot at the troops but the troops will simply disappear when they get within range or step onto the base.  The auto ack being up also does not prevent a capture like having a town building up; you just can’t get any troops to the maproom.

The auto ack being up also does not prevent a capture like having a town building up; you just can’t get any troops to the maproom. yes it does prevent the base capture due to the fact your troops die
