CV decks and bombers.
« on: July 14, 2008, 05:09:52 PM »
Hey, i haven't been posting threads lately, so heres my idea.

This may sound silly, but i was watching a movie called "Pearl Harbor" and it was amazing to see that htc hasn't made the B-25C's valid for flight on CV's. They would strip the B-25C down to 25% fuel, less bomb load just to make it get off the CV deck. I would like to see that we have the B-25C's become available for CV's, with the most obvious of changes such as: 25% fuel, 25% less load of bombs, and no formation. This way its better, so the CV's who get attacked from a certain base, for example; A156 launched a small mission to take out C201, when the CV came under attack we would be able to strike back with alot more fire power than just SBD's, or TBM's, or any other dive bomber/bomber that the CV allows.

My personal thought was this is a great idea, not because i posted it but because it would allow for CV's to launch greater firepower. Yeah, its true, the B-25C's were short distance with only 25%, but it would still make a great counter attack against opposing enemies.

If this were to happen, we all know most noobs won't listen but if it did, they would have to go to the TA and train on how take take off on the runway of a CV with a B-25C.

If your wondering when the Americans used the B-25 for that, it would have been when they attacked Tokyo.

Thank you,

Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Ill bite...

Talks about the "Doolittle raid" on Tokyo in April of 1942, which was one of the only if, not only, time the B-25 was used off a carrier.

.....US Navy captain named Francis S. Low was flying to inspect the new carrier HORNET when he saw Army bombers perform simulated bomb runs over the outline of a carrier deck painted on a runway. He realized that a collaboration between the US Navy and the USAAF might do the trick. Low, who was on the staff of Admiral Ernest J. King, immediately went to King to suggest that relatively long-range Army bombers be launched off a carrier to attack Japan.....

I don't think they were used off carriers much. The Navy called them PBJ-1, which among other things were used as a land based bomber used in an anti-sub role,.

Just land a B25 on a cv and re up,
it was kinda cool when the b25 could take off from a carrier, if i remember correctly, but it was still pretty useless

i believe some of the people that requested the b25 had the Doolittle raid in mind.

occasionally, there is a "glitch in the system" and 25C's can up from a CV.
it hasn't happened for some time now, but it was fun to up 25C's and drop on a Vbase completely covered in wirbies.
Oh my God, what has the Internet evolved itself into? :huh
