Repeat wishes
« on: July 17, 2008, 04:22:10 PM »
About that time I pop up with my regular wishlist again:

Tracers as an option set in the hangar by aircraft/vehicle

HVARs for the B-25H

Tiny Tims!

Centerline bomb option for the F4U-1D: 500lb, 1000lb and 2000lb options (total max load of 4000lbs of bombs + 8x5"HVAR)

Double the size of the gunsight in the bubble-top F4Us (I can link my calculations to prove the point if you need it). The bottom of the sight image should come down to the top of the cowl in default head position.

Land-based option for the F4U-1A (remove the arrestor hook and wing-folding mechanism, many 1As were built this way, or modified as such in the field)

Remove the metal hood from the F4U-4's canopy right above the pilot. Most F4U-4s omitted this.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I agree especially the metal hood on the F4U4s.

question: what's removing the tailhook and wing-folding mechanism on the 1A going to do?

P.S. I'd just like to have the bottle of Jack back  :D

Make the aircraft much lighter (hooks and wing folding mechanisms weren't light...) allowing it a better turn radius, top speed, range, basically better overall performance...
Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: You only
need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the
WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Do you think it would have to be perked than? It's possible that HTC added those options to get around having to perk it. I really don't know enough enough about the Corsairs to even be post about them, but I was under the impression that the F4U-1A is close to the performance of the F4U-4 already. if that is indeed the case, I'd hate to see another perked plane in the Corsair plane set. :salute

F4U-4 is about 40mph faster at altitude, has a GREATLY improved rate of acceleration, and has a rate of climb about 1500fpm better. Even if the F4U-1A were to lose the extra weight of the arrestor gear and wing folding mechanism I doubt we'd see THAT significant of a jump in performance. However a mild perk (maybe 5) for the "land based" option would probably be appropriate.

Why are the corsairs perked anyway?

The F4U-1C is perked because when she was first added they completely unbalanced the arenas.

The F4U-4 is perked because she's the best all-around fighter in the game.

Easier to fly effectively, yes. This is the subject of another thread (of which there have been many) so I'll leave it at this: If the pilots are equal the F4U-4 will dominate the Spit.

your seeing people that don't know how to use the F4U to it's full potential. Only time I worry about spits is when I'm out numbered other wise I'll turn with them.

heres the thread on spit v F4U
