JG11 Kommander Debrief FITP Frame 1
« on: August 09, 2008, 11:13:57 AM »
We upped 16 Ki61s in 4 Schwarms;

Low Flight (17k)
Fencer,Frodo,Shamus,Dogfart
Bino,GRHalo,TheBug,Bubi

High Flight (22k)
10thMD,Vilkas,RRaine,Tuxc123
RMRider,VonMessa,ViperII,Boingg

As usual all screens are 1920x1200..  Saveas to see better, HTC reduces them automatically.

First strike intercept, 12 heavy F6Fs dots sighted.  The Hellcats were heavy and flown by the 31st FG.

And in we go..  3 or 4 more to my far right.  At this time the High Flight was identing an apprant second formation which turned out to be friendly.  They soon joined in on these F6Fs.  I believe that we got 7 of these, one of which went down late in the frame while trying to land (that was yours Bino).  One of these guys got through to the Task Force and landed some hits.  We lost one KI61 at this time, the pilot went low, got seperated and eventualy killed  a sector farther east.

Our 15 remaining aircraft reformed east of the CV and we again turned east upon report of a second followup strike.

Bad guys were sighted and in we go again.. I had went out in front of the Gruppe a bit in order to get intel on what we were facing.

What they were..

I dove on the formation of TBMs and took the opportunity to screw up a flight of F6Fs on the way down.  Unfortunately I got going too fast and
decided descretion was the better part of valor and just dove through the TBM flight rather than risk a collision.

III/JG11 engaged the second strike and a huge fight ensued.  It was one heck of a fight.  Good COMMs over all, while some chatter was going on it was not overdone.  We decimated this strike.  Not one of the TBMs dropped on the Task Force.  A couple of the F6Fs got past us and snuck through the remaining CAP to get some hits.

Bubi got one of the TBMs..

Eventually we got lower and some FM2s engaged..

We attempted to regroup but RMrider and his Schwarm were in trouble.  Tuxc123, Vilkas and my remaining 3 guys all responded along with Bino and his guys.  Unfortunately we arrived to find Rider deadstick with 4 F6Fs on him on the deck.  Retribution was nigh! and they didn't last long at which point I called for a withdrawl to the west and rearming.

That pretty much ended all combat.

Great FSO and the map was beautiful with no framerate problems reported by our 16 players.

Great job and Great Screens, I'm reading about your merits in the logs right now  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Thanks Guys.

I was impressed with the KI61.  As a dedicated Mustang Dweeb and now JadgGeschwader 11 member I have not flown it hardly at all.  I probably quadrupled my time in it during the FSO.  Same for most of the III/JG11 guys who sortied that night.  It is an amazing little aircraft.  Dives real well, great guns in the 20mm.. little quick firing but you go with it and use that, turns pretty darn well too.

The guys were simply amazing and we got extremely lucky in our intercepts, some timely sighting reports allowed us to position ourselves to gain an initial advantage which we were able to exploit.
