Don't take off from CV......

In a F4U loaded for A2G or you will qualify for a free salt water bath. Eithere the cv spawn point is porked, the F4U is under powered, or F4U's could  not take off "hevy"

Have not tried other aircraft such as F6F or TBM............

I barley got off with F4 carrying 1 external tank and 8 rockets.. probably cleared the water by 1 foot......

Is this with the new terrain mano..(whatever the name is)?

If it is there is a CV which has a Spawn point in the middle of the CV deck - which doesn't give enough runaway for most planes to take off.

Otherwise, I have been able to sortie F4U-1D with 2k lbs, 8 rockets, and 50% fuel.

It's not easy, but it can be done.

F4u fully loaded:

3 notches of flap,
Full Throttle with wep,
Hold break down for a second then release,
Ride a gentle stall sound after leaving deck.. not hard.

But before you do anything, make sure the CV is moving forward by checking your speed indicator.  It should say 25 IAS or so.  If its not moving, you won't get airborne.

It just takes a little skill and an easy hand on the stick. I take off all the time from the CV in a fully loaded hog( 2k+ rockets and full fuel) and virtually never auger. Try WEP on and give it 2 stages of flaps at the end of your takeoff run so you dont have too much drag early but get the additional lift from the flaps. DO NOT YANK BACK ON THE STICK! Gently pull and get airspeed as you raise gear and then retract flaps and level, then WEP off. Thats all there is to it.

It can be done, but you have to be careful use flaps throttle up wep with brakes and very very light on the controls. Tho im sure future versions of AH will eliminate this inconveniacs as new feature.

AS difficult to fly as all LW aircraft are, I'm amazed you had any trouble launching the Ensign Eliminator with a full loadout. After all, you can just horse an F4U around with ham hands.   :p

They gave you good gouge in the above posts. A few practice launches and you're on your way. Just don't roll while the CV is turning. That's about 90% of my crashes off the deck.  :)

Once you get it down, we can start the threads about how it's too d*mn easy to launch a fully loaded F4U.  :D

Come to the dark side, Luke. Feel the power of the Corsair.  ;)

Actually what RAMMJAGER is refering to is a bug. HT said it would be fixed in a terrain patch. Instead of spawning just in front of the arresting cables the spawn point is forward of the conning tower. The takeoff roll is too short.

i can also backup on the deck for more room.
in F4, push throttle to about 16psi
and u will start a slow roll backwards.

As you're rolling, keep a finger on the "G" key and suck up the gear soon as you clear the deck.  :D
