umm, it allready does it?

Default view is F2 not F1, F1 is snap, internal and forward. F2 is default, forward internal.

Hm, thought we were talking about f7,f8,f9 view thingy.  I like f9.  Guess ya gotta have the f7 default so you can adjust your head. Would be nice to be able to select a default.

Hmm wonder if I understand this right...

I have a Sidewinder stick, using the Game Controller Software getting a mix of Snap and Instant views simply by adding F7 or F9 to the button commands.

So allthough this dosnt answer the original Q
(Default or not) it at least allows you to change freely according to your stick setup.

Have I misunderstood this thread?

I want f9 to stay that way when its selected. Haveing to control c every time you fly is stupid too. Control c off should be the default selection.

Maybe I can explain what I mean. Let's say I'm in a B17 in normal view (F1) with INSTANT selected. If I go to external view (F3) or to a gunner position (4) then come back (F1), the mode changes back to SNAP.

F1 returns you to internal, and defaults you back to snap view.

F2 returns you to internal, but KEEPS the current view slewing mode.

F3 External view

Ect.

Blur and company.....stop hitting F1 and start hitting F2.  Or do like me and edit the keyboard so F1 is the F2 key's command (I have my F2 key set to "cycle icon mode" like it was in Warbirds).

Now you will return to the cockpit, but the viewing system is still what it was in external view.

Thanks for the suggestions Hans. I tried them out but noticed a couple of issues.

I have a button that combines external view (F3) with PAN (F8) for outside views. If I press F2 it works as you said. The problem is that you are facing in the same direction as you were in external view. Also I like to come back to the default view (F1) in INSTANT mode (F9). I have another button set for this as well.

Switching gunner positions 1,2,3, etc. always switches the mode back to SNAP and F2 doesn't apply when switching views internally.

My suggestion is that it would be nice to have an option for INSTANT or SNAP as default view modes.

I have the same problem with you then Blur.  I use panning for external views of my bomber, but Instant inside.

Its not a huge deal.  I'm used to hitting F9 to get instant view.  I don't think HTC will change this anytime soon.

Hanz.
