Anything New
« on: July 23, 2008, 05:47:13 AM »
I havent seen any evidence of anything new in the pipeline, has anyone else?

I have to say the P39 was a bit of a non event after its initial success. I hope something a bit more interesting is on its way :pray

The P-39 is a great great plane. The #2 Allied Ace of WW2 was a P-39 pilot. The P-39 is so underestimated that it's almost pitiful. Go take on Vanscrew (Vandetta) in his P-39 and you will know exactly what I'm talking about. It turns like an F4U up to 50% flaps. Which is quite alot. Only problem people even have with it is it's 37mm.

you have to remember yarbles that it wasn't just the P39D / Q that was added.

re-modelled LA5 / LA7
ships (look much better)
osty / wirbel
SdKfz 251  (hardly ever see those)
TA 152  redone
loads of bugs fixed
new bulletin board

CT is in the pipeline.  How long that pipe is who knows.  :D

They tend to surprise us.  I like surprises  :)

dont see why they should have a problem with it.  I got 3 kills in 3 bullets the other week. People just havent got the patience to wait for the killa shot.

I dont have a problem with it at all. I find it easier to aim with than the Mk 108 30mm because everybullet is a tracer.  :aok

I'll be flying again, maybe this weekend.  Will be fun to give the 39 a try.  I'd be hardpressed to come up with a very short list of "interesting" planes.  All of them, almost, from time to time have fired my imagination.

When it's fun it's all fun.  When it's stale not much is fun.

Which part?

The #2 Allied Ace of WW2 was a P-39 pilot. The name was Porshykin (did I spell it right?).

I read Wide Wings assesment on the P-39  when the P-39 first came out and it said that it turned like an F4U up to 50% flaps, then the F4U turned better. The only Problem I ever had with the P-39Q was the 37mm, so I usually took up the P-39D and it's 20mm hispano.  :aok

Problem with the 39 is the flaps cannot be put down under 185mph, this means that you will reach your limit with turn circle long before ANY navy bird even hits 200mph, and by that time the navy bird will start dumping flaps, and will turn far better under 200mph, than the 39 could ever hope.

If you have +2 flaps or more out in a 39, you are already lights out when fighting any of the blue planes besides the f4f.

I fear nothing but navy wings when in the 39.

Another thing I learned with the P-39 is that it takes a while to speed up, but it holds E pretty well.

I think the 'Killa' is the wannabe 'gangsta' in the cockpit.
