CV turn warning

I seached this on the BBS and found a link http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,122255.0.html just though I would renew it and see what the general thoughs are though.

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

:How to tell your carrier is turning, or dead.:

If horizon is passing by, the ship is turning.

If you look BEHIND YOU, you can see the ships tail wagging, look up for bombs.

If planes taking off ahead of you, hit the tower, or fall off, it is turning.

If you're feet become instantly wet, the cv just blew up under you, enjoy your swim.

All of the above can be used to aid your situation.

Any Pre-warning before the CV starts a turn would be impossible unless there was a delay before the CV started turning after the command was given. The game doesn't know if I'm about to turn the CV until i turn it, how can it warn before hand? If the CV is turning before you hit the deck and you don't know, your blind. And if a delay was added the CVs would be even easier to kill than now. Level bombers are already too accurate, why make it easier for them?

Just learn to take off without it on auto takeoff.

The simplest solution is to hit f5 and look BEFORE taking off.

do you look before crossing the road?

simple tap of the back hat switch or pan around.

if it starts kicking when your rolling down the deck a little rudder to compensate and get airborne asap.  Only other solution I can see is to clock up 100 hours of Carrier operations in the TA before your allowed to roll from one.

Would be more realistic.... How ever could you imagine the moaning as the planes slide off the deck.

good idea :aok

and for the "just use the rudder duh!" guys, yeah thats fine if you're upping a seafire with 50% fuel to furball with, doesn't help if you're upping a fully armed and fuelled JABO which can barely make it off the deck with just a little rudder trim. could be why you usually get 15 uppers with no ords when theres 2 SBs, a VH and loads of GVs still up...

Since having rudder pedals I seem to be able to get off deck from a turning CV with a Dhog fully loaded with little trouble. Full WEP & flaps of course.

you use full flaps in the hog? most I've used is 3 notches maybe. was watching a program about FAA Harriers on Illustrious and noticed that they use no flaps until they are almost off the end of the deck, then wind em on really quick. makes sense, less drag until you need the lift, and works too - its worth an extra 10-15kts :aok im guessing this is SOP for non-catapult takeoffs?
