Redman, it's not just "redoing the cockpit"

It's totally remodeling the plane from scratch to meet the modern level of detail that planes in AH should have. Look at the F6F in game now. It's crude and low-detailed.

In the process I am pretty sure they go through and redo the damage mapping (so that it matches up to the new 3D model) and I hope that fixes the "lose the same 50cal gun every first hit every time you get hit" bug ;)

Yes all that mirroring stuff is gone, you can skin any squadron number you like. There isn't an F6F-3 in the works as far as I know.

Over the years people have asked me for F6F skins which I was unable to do because of the mirroring issues. I've kept a list of these requests and have now done these skins on the new shape. I'll post some skin viewer screenshots soon.

FANTASTIC !!! ... nice job Waffle and Greebo.

I only hope Alf is still around to redo the VF-27 skin, and if not, I hope someone else will do it ... I love that skin.

I agree Slapshot, I use no other skin on the Hellkitty.  Thank you Waffle and Greebo.  Quick somebody find this Alf fellow!

You are right Krusty. Since I made the mistake of doing it with the P-47 I've avoided seeding the skins list for the HTC stuff I do. So I'll skip posting the screenshots until other skinners have had a chance to post what F6F skins they want to do first.

So whats the huge difference besides shape?

has a stick in the cockpit now woot! maybe damage model, flight model might be adjusted(doubt it) or the top speed bumped up the 20 mph that is claimed it's missing (I'm no expert in that area but search the aircraft & wishlist for F6F updates). the skin issue is fixed.

The fact that it looks pretty and the skin issue fixed makes me happy.

Looks very "good", for such an ugly airplane.  :p

Hopefully it gets a FM review too.
