Recon and fog of war?

I was playing one of the those RTS games, and it got me to thinking that another wrinkle we could add to Aces High is an initial "Fog of War" at the beginning of a Tour.   The map has positions of major facilities, but the strategic stuff is hidden.  You have to go out and find it, revealing stuff on the map...

Right now, everyone knows where the HQs, cities, and the like are.  And buffs get off A1 and go right for them.

Uh, not sure where I'm going with this... just looking for an excuse to fly SBD's, PBY Catalinas, and drive light Scout tanks around for a change.  Maybe only certain vehicles can reveal the "cloaked" part of the map.

Dunno... just squeaking my wheel... It would certainly make things different (for the first few days of a tour at any rate).  If things moved around after a few days...  VH's seem mobile, airfields maybe not.  If there was more than one city or factory, the strategic importance of a city would require some photo overflights first... Even though they can't move, your can't tell which one is most important to the effort...

I'm getting kinda bored with the fly to airfield, smash, gangbang and capture.  A little bit of the unknown could spice things up a little (in my opinion).

Getting rid of the pinpoint 'dar would be the easiest and quickest way to give you the fog 'o war. I agree, moving the strat objectives with each tour would be a touch, maybe a revolving terrain set could be in our future?

Popeye clean your glasses that will lift the fog after that clean your nose prints off the monitor and that should lift the rest off the fog.
