I don't agree that the JU87G would kill off all tank play. It just means that you will have to adjust your tactics a bit as we are now doing when we see a Wirble defending a base. Why cant tanks roll with osti's or wirbles to defend against the tank busters?
Because it didn't work back in AH1. Can you think of anyone besides your own LTARs that would listen to someone else, and stay with the tanks in defensive positions to play a dedicated AA cover role for all the gv players in the vicinity? We had great osty/M16 sharpshooters back then too. Unfortunately, they usually tend to do what they want, instead of feel any kind of duty to really protect someone else.
Theoretically, you are right. Just as theoretically, CVs can be perfectly protected if only we had more dedicated CAP flyers patrolling around the CV, instead of just flying away to find his own fights and fun. But ofcourse, people don't listen, much less organize anything. The CVs go down all the time. They come to the boards whining and grieving that somebody killed the CV and ruined their fun... instead of ever thinking of actually doing what's needed to help the CV survive so they can have fun for a longer duration of time.
The tip of the day: MA folks don't do anything that is actually needed to be done. They only do what they like to do, and standing around in face of danger to wait and endure what may be a long time doing nothing, just watching the skies for enemy tankbusters, is something they do not like to do.
Those planes are so slow and unmaneuverable that they are very vulnerable to this kind of defense. If a tank were undefended tho...your right...it would be easy prey and maybe historically so.
They were undefended back in AH. They are undefended right now. They will be undefended in the future. That's how the MA works.
