An Aussie newspaper reports...Herald SunJanuary 11, 2008'THE Pacific', Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's $180 million TV mini-series being shot in Melbourne, may leave town for the US weeks before its May wrap date. But a spokeswoman for the series denied any move was to cut costs, with an invigorated Aussie dollar making it less affordable to shoot the epic Down Under."If we do move back to the States, it's about content, not finances," a spokeswoman from US network HBO said yesterday."It's more expensive for us to relocate but certain iconic exterior shots -- such as (New York's) Central Park -- can't be recreated anywhere else in the world."Another reason we may move is because filming is ahead of schedule, but I can assure you that 95 per cent of The Pacific will be filmed in Australia."The rep said a decision would be made soon on whether the series would finish early, but denied whispers it could wrap two months ahead of time.
