I hope it is just as every bit of truth and historical accuracy.
Good news.

So, its still going to be of the 101st? I remember some of them stayed and requested to be transferd to the PTO.

My understanding is it's going to follow the 1st Marine Division.

No, it will be about Marines. the 101St didn't make it back into the war before the bombs dropped.

Band of Brothers was epic. I have the Limited edition DVD box set and I try to watch it whenever I can.

If the Pacific was half as good as BoB, I will be happy.

I've got the same set. Hanks and Speilburg did an absolutely wonderful job on Bob.

Thats great news, anyone know when, roughly, it will air?

And wow, did you see the budget for it, $200,000,000.

Heres the IMDB listing.

No, I think it shows people like John Basilone... Jack Lucas... etc.

Edit: If you've ever read 'Edsons' Raiders' You'll recognize a lot of names. Like Eugene Sledge, Sid Phillips... etc.

I'm pretty sure this got canceled. At least thats the word out here. a MAJOR part of it was originally supposed to be filmed in Hawaii, but when our governor found out there would be offshore pyrotechnics, she refused to allow it. (Shows you how intelligent they are out here...)

Actually, my mum was going to work on this before they were told they couldn't film here.

An Aussie newspaper reports...

Herald Sun
January 11, 2008

'THE Pacific', Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg's $180 million TV mini-series being shot in Melbourne, may leave town for the US weeks before its May wrap date.

But a spokeswoman for the series denied any move was to cut costs, with an invigorated Aussie dollar making it less affordable to shoot the epic Down Under.

"If we do move back to the States, it's about content, not finances," a spokeswoman from US network HBO said yesterday.

"It's more expensive for us to relocate but certain iconic exterior shots -- such as (New York's) Central Park -- can't be recreated anywhere else in the world.

"Another reason we may move is because filming is ahead of schedule, but I can assure you that 95 per cent of The Pacific will be filmed in Australia."

The rep said a decision would be made soon on whether the series would finish early, but denied whispers it could wrap two months ahead of time.
