Suggested LGA775 mobo that runs ATI 4000 series?

Just window shopping here.

What would you folks pick for a new system meant to run a Socket775 Intel dual/quad-core chip, but intended for a ATI 4000-series video card (which runs PCIe x16 2.0 I believe).

All other details on the mobo are variable except for form factor; must be ATX.


Suggestions? Price is always a consideration, but don't be afraid to list the expensive ones so I get a good idea of the price range.

These were the top 3 contenders (or the current replacements for them) when I built my machine.  They cover the price spectrum.  I ended up buying the last one listed.

I have an Abit board similar to Baldegle's second choice. Only it's an earlier version and only supports DDR2 800. I like Abit. They are easy to overclock and have excellent instructions.

I'm sitting on an extra chip. That Abit board that Baldegl mentioned is enticing. I'll try to hold off since I have spent a small fortune on computers anyway.

One thing I'm still not sure on... The PCIe x16 2.0 support.... Only the last one lists it supports this, but the comments for the first one say it supports this also. Seems Newegg isn't necessarily listing them the way they should be, maybe?

That was one of the reasons I wanted to ask, because newegg doesn't seem to filter properly for what does and does not support the 2.0.

At least until recently, the Nvidia 700 series chipsets and the Intel X45 (?) chipsets were the only ones supporting PCIe x16 2.0.  That may have changed in the last month or so... I'm not sure.  All of those boards also have multiple slots and support SLI (Nvidia) or Crossfire (Intel).  IIRC the cheapest option was the NVidea 750i @ ~ $150.  Again, that may have changed recently.
