Nits, I'm SOOOO disappointed
« on: July 29, 2008, 10:27:32 PM »
Today, we had A111 capped, town down with two buildings left and troops in town.  Furballers were SO bent on vulching the field that NOBODY would take down the 2 remaining buildings for the capture even though we were pleading for them to do so and there were hardly any uppers.   Hangers were down after my drop but the furballers just couldn't pull themselves away from the field to kill 2 more buildings.

One hanger popped shortly after my drop and things just got ugly from there.  Furballers couldn't even keep a cap on the field....sigh.  5 minutes later, the sky was full of red dots and all hope of a capture was lost.

The day before that, I watched 4 carrier groups in a row, one after another enter a field within minutes after carrier the carrier before it was sunk.  Did anyone bother to take out ords, vh and shore battery (other than me of course).  Answer is NO.  Did anyone bother to bring in bombers to drop the hangers (other than me).  Answer is NO.

Luftmorder is becoming very disappointed with being Knights and we are presently in serious discussion to switch countries.

OH, I will say nits did win a map in blue a couple days ago.  Only because our tulips were kicked so hard in orange that everyone left in despair.  There were so many nits in blue that we couldn't help but win that map and did so within just half a day.

Hats off to you rooks who keep offense a priority.  And to the bish for the same.  Seems all nits do anymore is defend, defend, defend and then, nits even suck at that.

Ok, I feel better now...lol

Why care about the war if another one will start right after it?

If the base was capped, then your ord would have been more properly directed toward taking down the buildings in town instead of a hanger.

Regardless of what buff you were in, you could have come back around and straffed the buildings down.

If the troops were in an M-3, HE could have straffed the last two buildings down.

No one to blame but yourself it would seem.

I guess you're right...
Why bother having squads then.
Why bother having troops.
Why bother having cities.

Lets just have 3 airfields.

This is the key part of your post.  You guys want to "win", but once the going gets tough the guys you fly with go to where it's easier.  Don't blame it on Knits, Rooks, or Bish.  Put it on the guys who like to win the 'war', but don't want to fight it when someone fights back.

All kinds of folks who play the game and go where the fight is, because they could care less about 'winning the war', and care a lot about 'fighting the fight' regardless.

Get your squad to forget about the war, and focus on the fight.  The more they fight, the better they'll get and soon enough they won't mind it.

Because it's fun to fly with a group of friends and for some really good squadron vs. squadron fights.

With the exception of a couple squads, all countries are the same, you won't find anything but more frustration. Imho, the 'war-winning' squads take the path of least resistance.

We are going to attack a base with a huge dar bar over it? No, we'll attack an undefended base instead.

We are going to attack a base without a dar bar over it? No, they might see us, so to avoid the fight we'll go NOE instead.

We are going to attack a base without a dar bar, and go NOE, but maybe they can still up in time? No, instead we'll hit the hangers and kill the field.

Ironically, Knights relative lack of cohesion and organization are their saving grace. Knights are tricky to fight because they are unpredictable. I can predict what Bish will likely do well into the future just by looking at the map and knowing how they collectively think, the same goes for Rooks. But, honestly, even though I fly on Knights a fair amount, I almost never have the first foggy clue what they may do next. Knights have inadvertently honed disorganization and radical divergence of will into a finely tuned weapon.

Reading the OP reminded me of the first time I met ROCKY.  I was over an enemy field that had been contested for awhile, but it seemed that the furball involed with that field had moved on elsewhere.  There were like 5 of us over the deacked field, with an occational upper now and then.  I hear ROCKY on range announcing he had troops.  A little later he asked for help with a few buildings up.  A few friendlies put the last of their ammo in before going rtb.  Before he could drop troops, a few more buildings popped up.  Now it was just Rocky, some numbers dude and I in the area.  I felt bad for Rocky flying his goon like 3 sectors to get there, so I went over and ended up strafing, buildings down, and more would pop up.  I all but ran bingo by the time everything was down and stayed down, and it was just the 2 of us.  I porked the hell out of my fighter hit percentage doing it, and I could care less about the field being captured, but I couldn't leave a friendly that went to all that effort to bring troops stranded.
