Planesets

Was thinking... Now that we change the terrain after every reset... why not do the same thing with the planeset?

I'm not up on the actual years, but would something like this make sense?

Map 1: 1937-1940
Map 2: 1937-1942
Map 3: 1937-1944
Map 4: All aircraft.

that is an AWESOME idea!!!! Im all for it!!!!!

I'd add:

Map 1 to have Map2 and Map3 planes as mid-cost perks (10-20 perk cost) and map4 planes at high cost (40 perks)

When in map 2, the Map1 planes gain 2X the perks per kill, map2 planes unperked, map3 planes mid-cost and map4 high cost.

When in map3, map1 planes gain 4X perks, map2 planes gain 2X perks, map 3 unperked, map4 planes are low cost perks.

And so on for map 4.

And of course, we would need to have early war planes in the game.. Brewster Buffalo, P-40, Hurricane,P-38F & J , French planes, Dutch planes and some more italian planes (Fiat Biplane! whoohoo!)  :)

I actually like the idea or a derivation of it.  But the argument against what you ask for is that it would impede a paying customer from flying his favorite mount if we restricted plane choices.  However, by not restricting plane choices and allowing N1Ks and other late-war planes all the time, I am prevented from flying my favorite ride the F4F-3 Wildcat.  A Wildcat would be toast in the Main Arena as it now stands and would not be fun to fly and thus I would not do it and therefore in effect am prevented from flying it.  But yeah, once we get some early-war aircraft, I'd like to see the Main Arena on occasion restricted to a few planesets interspersed with all planes allowed which would be the norm.

This is awesome idea!
And talking about restrictions, i cant fly most of the planes, that i'd want in current MA.

Im right now forced to fly Yak, as it has same charasteristics, that 190a5 and g2 has, but it can compete with all these latewar model (fast) planes. I dont take yak anymore higher than 6k initial, since the enemy comes down to me, i just sit there and wait.. ;) With 190:s i had to go 15k, so i could run away from 50% of the planes at first sight.

You got my vote for this one! Knifefights with 202:s or 109f4:s!, it would be extreme fun!

I vote YES.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

They have already done this with the perk system.

I do like the plane set ideas too though.
:) I think if they do go to it they should remove the "perks" or at least overhaul the original idea behind the perk system.

Basicly a good idea.
But i think mostly people would like to fly their favorite ride no matter what.
perhaps on a dedicted day, once in a while, the main areana would allow a specific era plane set.
I mean, more as an occasional gimmic, rather than as a rule.  :D

I dont see where any planeset would be too terribly difficult to get along with. Especially if the planeset were a new one every time the map reset when a side "wins"

Then if you dont like the planeset, check back in a few hours or so?  I don't think it would make it difficult because each planeset could be set up to have about 25-35% of the total number of planes so every 3-4 resets each of the planes would have been used at least once.  Some 2 or 3 times.

This basically would help get the lesser used airplanes some airtime.

I would love nothing more than fly the AR234 every time I fly.  But I also think I would like to fly other planes too especially if I knew as soon as we take that last base I might get to fly it again.  Or maybe I am flying in defense of that last base so I can keep flying it a little while longer.

Just a thought.

As long as there's a Spit, any Spit, and 109's to chase, any 109, I'm happy.

Seems like a good idea.

I think its a great idea because nearly EVERY plane  in the game has an early war variant. And unfortunetely, in the MA, people will almost always fly the latest version because its faster and has more cannons (or has cannons lol). I'd love to see an early spit fighting a c202 (just .303's lol) and early zekes fighting wildcats and early P-38's.

Maybe once we get a full planeset, sure.  the only thing is what happens if we get stuck on a map, like we are now for ndisles???

Rotating planesets should be done on a fixed time based system, with the extremes being limited to just a few days (i.e. early war planes only just the first few days of a tour, and free planes for all just the last few days of the tour.)  Use a sliding perk point scale in between.

However, I don't feel we should even attempt a RPS until we have a much fuller planeset.
