Some more natural metal P-38s
« on: August 02, 2008, 11:28:14 AM »
Been experimenting with a new natural metal finish techinique and here are some more test subjects:

8th FG/80th FS P-38J "Down Beat" - flown by Richard Bong briefly.

18th FG P-38L - A fairly new and unused bird (only used about 2 weeks before the War ended).  It seems to me though, that
the dirtier the skin, the more realistic the metal comes out looking.

Update to an ingame skin - 474th FG 428th FS P-38J "Baby Shoes The Second"

Do you have an in cockpit shot looking down the wing?  The BMF effect looks nice from the screenies...

Sure.   Here is a shot showing the wing and inner boom of one of the new BMF '38s.   The effect is much better in external shots I think; it seems like the material.txt file has a negligible effect on the metal surface when viewing from the cockpit.
