Turning into a 20,000LB lover?
« on: August 02, 2008, 03:02:54 PM »
Well recently since i've been in my military academy ( still here ) i've had the chance to read up ALOT about the P-47 and i'm amazed. I'm thinking about turning into a P-47 Nut for the next few months when i graduate 8/23/08 but i'm still going to be primarly flying my precious 109 in AvA/SEA with the mighty 11th ( <salute> Stampf ).

I have ALOT of information about wingman tactics/tatical flying/Formation/Brev. Code/ etc that i can't wait to share with rook nation when i come home, but just a heads up to everyone so you won't be shocked when i'm flying the P47 primarly the -40, N in MA.

Chow's for now gent's <salute>

PS: any jug jocks got any tips?

Dont underestimate it when you see one. I've been able to out turn almost any spit 8 that I met co-alt. (A few Spit 16s too) I set the 8 .50s at 225 just because they merge all at 400 which is the best distance to shoot at (as most 109 loves would know, so if you just use the same convergence, it shouldn't be hard.) When you BnZ (which I usually do in a Jug, best thing for it) I dont cut throttle all the way, I only about halve it. So that way I have enough speed to still recover. I read that in the game, the alt recovery of a Jug is something like 85-90%. :salute

I can pretty much promise you that I wont be shocked if you fly the p47.

I will remain calm.

Scared me.

I thought my ex-wife had found a new boy toy.

Try it light: 6 50's 256 per gun; low'ish fuel and dt.  Try it.

light 8 gun pack is probably the best bang for the buck, you get a good climb rate (bette than the 51) and still juggish 8 50 cals.

I typically up with 50% and a centerline drop, ditch the tank when I get to the fight..

one thing useful to do in the jug, especially in the typical MA gangtard environment, its set a lower limit to your combat altitude I think the term is "soft deck".. I.E. if there are many cons around, make it a point to never stray BELOW  5000 feet, if you get in a pickle, the 5k is your insurance policy, giving you the option to dive away and regroup if things start getting out of hand..i

f your on the deck and slow, your in a bad place, the jug is a solid ride, but slow and low really puts it out of its element.

The Jug is very deadly low and slow.  Don't underestimate that fact.  4 notches of flaps and rudder it will get around on anything that is equal speed.

maybe, but i will try never to get that low to find out, it just seems like way to many planes can out maneuver it on the deck
