All this crying about the Chog

First off I kill these monsters the most, I am slowly "Yes painfully" expereienceing there brunt.  Most of my engagements are with these devil forked planes, yet they are quite easy to bring down.  Here is my guide to succesfully defeating a Chog, granted this is for repelling carrier raids.

Majority of Chogs will come in no higher then 5-6K.
Grab a fighter you are comfortable in.
Grab one that climbs better then 3500 FPM from sea level to 10K.
Grab a fighter that turns better then the Chog.
Most important one that is faster then Chog.

2 fighters come to mind the LA-7 and N1K.  Though the N1K is not faster, is usually a good one for base defense.  The LA-7 is my favorite for base defense because it outshines this hispano laden monster easily.

Most of the kills I see this plane getting are vulches or HO's.   So the main thing is to not get enticed into a HO with one.  Once a HO has been tried you can snap around on the 6 of a Chog rather easily, and use the acceleration of the LA-7 to close the distance, Chog will go down rather easily to your guns and a few well placed hits will end this task.

While the main focus is the Head On, Chog's do not climb all that great, they turn rather nice, acceleration is average, Guns are superb as well as loadout.  To me the Chog is not a plane I worry about "in aeril combat" when I see them coming in.  Its the loadout they carry that worries me.  Each fighter can wipe out a hanger in 1-2 passes.  Fix the hispanos on this plane and you still will see people crying about them.

I say they are fine the way they are.   I have 4 flights in them this tour and I use them only on base assault for obvious reasons.  I prefer the F6F over the Chog any day, don't know why I just do.

The F4U is a mediocre plane. I can rack more kills in the D model than the C. All the Chog whinning is simple. People get into head on attacks with them and die.

Its a mediocre plane. Only outstanding thing is the guns, but if you let it get behind you for it to fire them, you sucked anyways and were going to die even if it was a Dhog. Only you die faster with the C.

This is why people whine:

"I have no skill whatsoever but I dont want to admit it, I probably fly a Luftwaffe plane wich requires even more skill, wich I have little. So I will blame the planes other people are flying to compensate for my lack of skill in the eyes of the opponent."

I have a lil bit more trouble with the niki but its not because of its cannons, it because its maneuverability is hard to match in the P-38, but with the Spit9, no problem.

Seriously, all this whinning really pisses me off. I dont see Nath or Santa having problems killing Chogs, so any crying about them is just that: childish crying.

I remember the day Chogs single handedly turned AH into a childs clown circus.  Still, I dont mind circuses as such.  Now with Tempests and LA7s, Chogs have been deflated somewhat but still have a special place in my heart as the single most dweeby thing Pyro has ever done

Wow, you nailed it...I do not fly the F4U a lot but when its going to be attacking a base, I tend to take it for its cannon power and such.  As a fighter plane, Ive grown to hate it.  Can't see behind ya, so if that boogie gets away from the guns, you better have a wingman to tell you where the bad guy went.  I've grown real fond of the 109s lately...Id like to fly the P-38 more, but its new compression model ruins it for me, one tight turn or loop and she stops responding.  Insta-Lawn Dart

At least the dweeby F4u gets its digs back on me, anytime I fly it, come ladning time, she always wants to skid off the runway sideways and break a wing.

My 2 cents

Biggest problem with Chog is its overly huge ammo load of Hispano-Avenger ammo for its Hispano-Avenger cannon.
It really wasn't A-10 of its time... in AH it is.

Geez guys, are we talking about the same plane?  I like the hog - either c or d model.  They're extremely maneuverable at high speed and have a great roll rate.

Tell you what -- pick any pilot and his favorite ride.  Torque in big blue will waste his butt every time.

Wish I could say the same about me lol

C hog's I kill a lot of them, why their are more of them per capita than a lot of other planes in the air at any given time. another reason I kill a lot of them I that I think a lot of "new" guys fly them, I see more F4U's making mistakes then a lot of other planes.

Are C hog's uber?...yes I think so, for only 200 or so made they they have an impact on the MA that is totally disproportionate to their historical impact on the war, ya I know the MA is WAY Ahistorical.
