Fights to be savored
« on: August 04, 2008, 07:21:29 PM »
In the last week I had a few 1 on 1s that really make the game worthwhile.

In both I think I had the advantage airplanes-wise and I really respect the way my opponants flew theirs. One was against a P-38 and todays was against a 152H. Both times I tried getting each low, slow, and flat but it was touch and go against each and in each fight the both of us wiggled out of trouble several times.

Each one HOs were avoided and the fight was allowed to play out. I wont say who won in either cause it dont matter, and both enemy sticks were gentlemen. 1 on 1s like that are the game at its best. And lets face it, they dont happen near enough. I went back to the same area right after and a 1 on 1 with a 51 quickly became a 4 on 1 gangbang.

So its the 1 on 1s against guys who are better then you that really are the best.  :salute to both those sticks.

just to be a wise guy I was thinking of going back and digging up some of your old post when you were a buff only pilot and just couldn't understand the "fighter guys", but decided against it, instead I'll just say..........

Well I savored great 1 on 1s then too. Especially against the really good buff killers.

I guess like anything you only get better when you play someone a little better then you are.

i have had this situation many times in the past, not always fighting a 51 but it always ends with my planes hitting the ground

Often find that the best fights I have are during off peek US times. Overall skill level is a lot higher and in a variety of aircraft rather then the usual top tier and perk rides. Due to low numbers the fights are few and far between (especially on large maps) but generally of a much higher quality which makes up for it.

Ahh, the sounds of someone seeing the light :)

Yep, when you take the risk and test yourself, it can only get better.  Glad you enjoyed it :aok

Congrats on your fun fights, and 'seeing the light.'  We can only hope more and more people eventually find the same path! :aok
