Tumbleweed

A phrase indicating that a pilot has a complete loss of situational awareness.  Often occurs when a wingman is so confused that all he can do is stay visual with his flight lead and hope he'll eventually figure out what's going on.  Utterly confused, clueless.  Sometimes generically used to describe people who have no idea what's going on.  If someone is describing a difficult concept (or just poorly explaining it), a pilot may say "I'm tumbleweed, can you explain that again?"

Was looking for something else and came across this one, so now when the rear end of the horse meets the fan blades you know the official termonology to use

 I keep missing Ava at home, I called 19 times yesterday and 22 times today, I figure it was just bad luck that I missed her, seems she must be having trouble with the cell phone as I can't get anything but her voice mail.

Oh and tell her that restraining order joke was really funny I got a kick out of that, she's such a lil kidder. Anyway I'll try her again tomorrow as the phone seems to be busy now.

That was me last night, I didn't have the SA or my mind in the game last night. Frustrating to say the least...

I've always said it is harder to be a wingman than a wingleader in AH. You need to fly in proximity to your leader, watch his and your own 6 o'clock, and be a back up shooter in case the lead 'screws the pooch'.

That said, I'm more than happy to wing with someone provided they can shoot, so we don't loiter around a single con for too long.

Tumble weed for me is when I run into HeadHunters, I get on one of thems six then comes the other, it gets my panties all up in a bunch

Tumbleweed is me ignoring Lazer's calls from the back of the a20 about 7 or so odd planes engaging so I could out zoom a Ta152.  We got a few before biting it most spectacularly.

An example would be a response to a call of an enemy threat "I'm tumbleweed"="Where? I don't see it".  On the flip side if you get guns on an opponent just rolling along having no idea your threat was there, you caught them tumbleweed.
