Luzon Terrain
« on: August 06, 2008, 08:23:03 AM »
Please try to get the Luzon Terrain before Friday Night, it is loaded in the SEA as I type.

I asked my fellow CMs to leave it up between events until Friday night.

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I've been checking since yesterday afternoon and it has always been Rangoon.  So no I don't have it.

Map is buggy. Bad geometry or something. Terrible FPS when spawning on runway. I get decent frames (dipping only to 50) in almost ANY of the worst situations this game can generate, massive cons, numerous fires, trees, high resolution, etc...

This game had me dropping down to 30 and others even worse as we spawned on the runway. Taking off was terrible. It has to do with the terrain because as I was coming in to land at the end I had my INFO up at the top of my screen and it was pegged at 60 coming in off the water, and as soon as the shoreline began to show some detail it dropped to 37. It got worse as I came in on final.

To me that's not a good map. Sacrificing HALF my performance for only marginally better eye candy may be nice for the map MAKER, but not the map USERs. Many folks were grumbling on squad vox and range about this.

My system took this map just fine & I never heard a peep from my squadies about frame rates.  I suggest the map is fine & looks great!

Upgrade anyone?

No problems here. I usually run around 30 fps and that's what I had on this map last night.
Wish I could blame the map for missing CV73 with my torp, but just bad flying by me .

Was bad for me, however in my case it is more than likely my system.

Great map terrain team :aok
