radio control and Aces High
« on: August 08, 2008, 09:09:30 AM »
ok....someone had run a thread with a similar title. i can't find it or remember who started it, but they had requested a couple pics of some of my models.

these are the only ones i can find on any of my puters right now. i'll get some pics of the other ones this weekend weather permitting.

the super decathalon is a .40 size sport plane with an enya .50 in it.

the p40 same, but with a os .50sx

the p51 has a 1.5 ys 4 stroke.

they're actually beautiful airplanes.

a friend of mine had a regular citabria. he traded that for the super decathalon.
i had built one of his combat r/c models for him, so he took me up in his decathalon. i flew it from the backseat for about 45 minutes. it's amazing how precise that airplane is.

we took it to the warren grove MOA(we made certain it was cold first), and he did a couple simulated dive bomb runs on the practice targets there too.

the only thing he didn't let me do, was take it off or land it, but then again, all of my hours are in cessnas and an hour or so in a schweitzer helicopter.

We have a park specifically set aside for flying those airplanes and I used to dig going out on a Sunday and watching the folks fly them.

To see just how lifelike they can look watch "Empire of the Sun". Most of all the falling B-29 shot.

ya, most clubs have a field fo these models.

ours is (coincidentally) right across the street formt he airport i fly out of. we have i think one of the nicer fields in new jersey.

we have an east-west runway. the runway itself is almost 600 feet long. the treeline on the west side is over a mile away, and about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile to the south treeline, and the east treeline is 1/4 mile away.

we have a few guys with jets, although nothing as nice as that yellow aircraft F/A hornet pictured above.

electric is becomming more prevelent too, and a lot of our members fly the sport type planes.

i stick with the sport planes as they're what i can easily afford to own, and i can afford to crash them too.(and everyone WILL crash at least one time)
