Many of you have seen and/or responded to these two closely related posts:

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,243616.0.html

I'm sure it took some gumption for a 14 year old to make a public appology and face the ridicule of the community.  He also appologized to me directly via PM both here on the BBs and in-game and seemed sincere in his remorse.  These actions are at least a good step forward.

But I'm sort of conflicted.  Are his appologies actually sincere or is he just playing the sympathy card?  Were his actions really so bad or was it just a kid being a kid?  Since he betrayed my trust did he learn a lesson or can he not be trusted again?  That's all really just one question.

The second question is where do you draw the line in what's acceptable and what's not?  Hoing, picking, vulching, spawn camping, spying, vulching a second account, hacking the game? In my opinion the last three cross the line.  Everything before that is just part of the game although it might be argued that so is spying.

Well, I gave a squeeker a chance and he blew it (not that being kicked out of a two man squad is any big punishment).  Is it worth giving him another chance and, if I did, where do I draw the line and how do I know it's not being crossed when I'm not around?

I'm leaning toward just leaving things as they are but would like to hear your opinions.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

TBH as long as they are in your squad any base save you do is going to be overshadowed by people assuming it was because of less than honest means. You could probably apply it to any achievement were they to be in.
Even if it seems certain that you will lose, retaliate. Neither wisdom nor technique has a place in this. A real man does not think of victory or defeat. He plunges recklessly towards an irrational death. By doing this, you will awaken from your dreams.

To answer your 1st question, I'd never would have let a kid in my squad in the first place. If I had my way no one under 18 would be allowed in the game.
Your 2nd question, I consider hoing, vulching, spawn camping, and picking all part of the game although I don't like when it's done to me  :lol But spying and vulching a shade account is completely unacceptable to me and the ones that are caught in this activity should be taken out and beat with a thorn bush. :salute

It's a game.

Definitions of acceptable are a moot point.

If he wants to spy, he can.  You don't have to emulate him.  There are always ways to use people like that to your own advantage.

I believe alot of "Kid-Gamers" think its all part of the fun,or out of an "idea" they
thought was cool at the time. They will play like that in most of the games they play
because they dont take it quite as serious as others. I also think most of us picked
on his "language" and spelling than we did the apology itself.

BS. Age has nothing to do with it. Treat him as you would an adult.

Muppets have had a couple of internal problems due to squeakers lately. In our case, our squeaker wasn't necessarily a bad kid, but he was a kid. He became intolerable to many in the squad. I personally would not allow a squeaker in the squad*.  Certainly the counterpoint to this is, "Well, who will they fly with then?." Dunno... but not me.

He didn't even take the time to spell half of his words correctly. I'm guessing it took him all of 2min to type that apology up.

I don't get why you even typed that, you know it's stupid.

UNFOrtunatly, sir, those are questions that only you can answer for yourself.

if it were my squad, and someone did something to cause me to boot them out, then they're out. in that aspect, there can be no going back. i would feel that i would not be able to trust him. what would he be doing when i wasn't ingame? would i log in to find a boatload of complaints?

just my outlook on it.

I would congratulate him for getting back on the road to responsible 'peoplehood', but I would not reward him for his apology by letting him back in the squad now.
It's likely he was sincere in his apology, but it could have just been the moment.  The proof is in how he handles himself going forward, without any reward or promise from any one.  If the lesson really takes hold, in a few weeks no one will remember this, and he make new friends and find a squad who will take him.
Hey gets kudos for stepping up.  Now we wait to give him the same some time in the future for stepping out.

Certainly the counterpoint to this is, "Well, who will they fly with then?." Dunno... but not me.

They can form their own. I can think of one young fellow that formed his own.  He is the biggest blowhard I have seen in the game.  He got a bunch of older guys to join the squad as well as a bunch of squeakers.  The older guys largely left because he was intolerable as a mouth running, lousy leader.  This squad was then suspended from FSO for continued violations of the rules.  Its reputation has already started to solidify as a joke.

The kid that BE let into his squad apologized in a pathetic manner.  He "i dont no y i did it but it was rong.  Give me  a break.  He doesn't know why he did it?  The list of reasons why someone does that is short and pathetic.  Perhaps the worst of those reasons is that he did it, using BE's helpfulness, to be a punk.  I am sure that he was all giggles with his cheating comrade.

Don't second guess yourself and let this riffraff back in.  Let him start his own squad and have the same thing happen to him again and again because he lets people like himself join his squad.

If you want to do something to help this kid, encourage him to learn how to read and write so that the rest of us don't have to support his illiterate self through our tax dollars. Or teach him to ask, "Would you like fries with that?" because that will be his ultimate career destination.

BTW, BE you shot me down a few weeks ago and "i r angree abo0t d@t"  ;)
Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time

Defining squeaker as <18, Bearkats is the only one I've ever known (might be others, just can't think of them right now) that I wouldn't mind flying with on a day-to-day basis. Most youngins take a youngin's attitude toward game (always on the prowl for new way to 'game the game'....bailing when about to be overwhelmed to avoid losing a fight....etc) and as such just have nothing in common with older, graying, foul-mouthed, drunk bastids like those in MY squad :aok
