How the hell this "ù*^$$" Assist code work ^?
« on: December 20, 2000, 05:03:00 AM »
Let me describe something happened last monday night :

I was on a superb knive fight with a F4U in my Yak at 3/4K with a country mate in a "blue abomination"   at 10K+ (for me after 10K it's the stratosphere ,I'me a metric system dweeb unable to do the proper convertion   without errors )
I was working like a surgeon   removing part after part of the F4U (1st one aileron next the elevator etc ...) after seing the F4U spinning to the ground (at this state he is obviously killed)  I extend to grab alt for another fight just to see the ù*^$^$^ù*ù country "mate" diving on my prey spraying 20 mm shell on it and get the kill  .

I just want to know how the assist is determined by AH it the weight of bullet who is used or the critical effect of the impacts ?
I'm sure the F4U can send more weight per second than a Yak but it this case it's not fair
Disgusted I've logged of and I'me seriouly thinking about buying Q3 !

Just think; will this type of behaviour become more common with the introduction of perk points?

Nope Wobble it's whoever causes the most damage gets kills. That's why I hate when dorknuts follow my stabless kills down only too vulch them. Sometimes it tis hard to tell if an AC is dead or not. I really don't get mad if it's a newbie tho, watching them following a fluttering stabless AC down using all their ammo I chuckle actually. The best is when you take their rear stabs off high and watch them fall, while 3 guys follow the dead AC down pumping ammo into it. Your @ 10 k and they're @ 2k and you get kill hehehehe I chuckle bigtime then.

Good point Juzz like the top rail in 190 A8 you informed me about. I went and looked at some pics doh....

Yep Staffo its a big problem in a Yak

<----- Fellow Yak Driver

I don't know how many times I fight someone down from 25k to 8k, disable his aircraft, only to see some idjut in a cannon monster come in and expend 400 (exageration? only sliglty  ) 20mm cannon rounds into his out of control aircraft and then I only get an assist.

About the only thing that we can hope for, is for Pyro to include the Yak-9UT armament options asap, so that we have some serious firepower ourselves. Still won't have much ammo, but x2 20mm + x1 23mm should do very nicely, or even just the x3 20mm version.

Hi

Oh my god how many chogs steal my kills, no way to stop it though I guess. Try calling out "enemy plane dead" so at least you can avoid the accidental ones.

thanks GRUNHERZ

I don't care of the perk point as I fly only the plane I can manage   (don't laught I'm about to give the G2 a try  ) namely the Yak or the Typhoon (for jabo purpose).

I don't care either as I've made the mistake myself when I was a full newbie (now I'm just half of a newbie  ) but in this case it was a member of a well known bish squad

Wont' be difficult the as airframe is already done and they "just" have to add weight (IMO).
Give me the 37mm and I won't whinne about assist anymore   but we will heard the scream "UBER" from some well known luftwobble

I've had it happen to me as well, and it ain't been newbie players doing the in air vultching either. At one point a few weeks ago, I had one "well known" CHOG sub dweeb literally following me around. If it happens once, ok, stuff happens in the arena. But three times in a row? And after I pointed it out on the radio, said player was actually laughing about it...not denying it.

You know who you are dude, and it sure doesn't make me respect your squads "top 5" ranking very much.

Think this is a pretty big problem when you fly planes with "bad" armement such as the Yak and my 109.
The 109 has and optional 30mm though but that is hard to hit with, and if you use 3x20mm the plane gets too slow.

Let's just hope that people learn too get their own kills instead of "killing" the ones allready dead.

Out of the 52 assist in tour 10, I can honestly say 30 of them should of gone in the kill column.

I like everyone else don't mind some teamwork going on but there's definately a good amount of folks who won't take the guy behind you and they'll dive right for the guy 200 yards on ur 12...

This happened to me last week and disgusted me so bad I think i've played 20 minutes since.

"it's whoever causes the most damage gets kills"

Yup.  So don't let em fall down smoking. Make em pop if there are <cough> "friendlies" around.

 OR!

Next time work like a surgeon and only remove the pilot.

Nope thats not it.  There is probably some level of scoring which tracks how much damage each pilot causes on a target.  He laid more damage on that plane than you did.  Nothing odd there.

The crappy part is how your countrymate fired on an obviously dead enemy.  Thats low and I feel for ya.  I've seen my share of that crap as well.

I've had it happen lots too... but...

There have been tons of cases where I *know* it was an accident. Sometimes they just don't realize it's dead. One way of alleviating the problem a bit is to come here and ask your brethren to be more careful. A better way would be if HTC just implemented a better system to detect fatal damage.

erhm... yah, what Dingy said. It seems to either assign value to certain types of damage (explosion worth more than wing removal), or, it is the value of the cumulative damage (removing the wing is less than removing the tail + pilot wound + explosion). It would be best if, at the moment some kind of critical damage was done, it would recognize that as being fatal, and that's it.

Heh what I hate the most is the NON_OFFICIAL kill stealing...for that I mean...

A enemy F4U bounces me. I avoid him. He bounces me again, I avoid him once more. He eventually comes down and starts to fight like a man. I outmaneouver it. I gain E on it. I am about to kill it...

When a guy comes and kills my work.

I hate it the most because they even ask you to say thank you! because "they saved my butt"

I know that this sometimes happens with the best of the intentions..but sometimes I can tell when a "friend" was looking for the right moment, when I have the bad guy without E and hangin on prop ready to be ded.

THEN they dive.

Sux, doesnt it?
LOL!...
