Ground Vehicles ruined the game for me last night...

A barrage of Panzers were rolling down the hill at 250 mph.  If you killed them... they'd be back in 3 minutes.  If you let them go... they took out all the ack at that base.

The people calling F4u-1C pilots "quake-heads" were crying wolf.  Quake-heads have a new ride.. the Panzer.

There should be some kind of track separation that occurs at over 50 mph on those tanks.  Also.. allowing spawning on top of a hill just above an enemy base may not be such a good idea.

I'm not at the "what were you thinking?" stage here.  I'm simply at the "please fix it".

 Is it possible to put a max speed on the GND Vehicles?
 I have never really run in the panzer races so for me its not an issue. It does seem tho that there is a growing cry for realistic speeds on hills. How about leaving speeds the way they are now, but include an exploding gear box if you exceed a certain speed??

 Crying about it doesnt help..suggestions?

I offered as many solutions as you.  Sorry you felt it was "crying"... but I guess that happens whenever someone brings up an issue.

BTW.. the exploding gearbox is another good idea.  Either would serve the same purpose.

I fully agree with the irreality of that downslope race. Although, is something that only can be done from V56 to A27, AFAIK, and maybe another spot.

IMHO, and given the fun of it (I mean rolling a 250 mph tank down the hill), I would still leave the issue like it is today. Plus that compensate somehow the boring life of a Ground Vehicle Driver. Is an easy issue to solve as well: kill V56, and you negate the rollercoaster tanker option.

[sarcasm]Wow.. this is such a great idea.  Nevermind the fact that it takes 8 minutes to fly to a base and only 3 minutes for the panzer to reach ours.

I was totally wrong in my assesment.  There is such an easy defense for Panzers doing 250 miles an hour.  This obviously isn't a problem with the game, but rather a problem with everyone playing the game.

This is not about a plane going 2 mph too fast, or turning 1 second too slow... this is about a tank doing 250 mph.  I seriously doubt there is any question as to wether or not this is realistic

HT said that he leaves  it as it for gameplay reason, ie. you can only get 4 mph out of the tank going up the hill, so to equalize that time spent, you can roll down the hill, just relating what he said when I asked him about it.

How about a concession, since it takes an avg. of 20 min. to get to any airfield from a flat surface...how about if they move the spawning points within, say, 7 min. of the airfields (closer), thats about the avg. flight time for any given fighter to an enemy airfield.  This way you make the tankers, and  the "That's not relistic" crowd pleased...?

As a part time tanker and CO of the 15th Panzer division, we actually 'look' for a spawn point that goes down hill, why? Not because we are trying to evade the enemy, its because it takes so fricking long to get anywhere! Give me 7 min to any airfield and I'll be happy with no high speed downhill runs.

Realistic? LOL No, we all know better.

However, since this is a game we might want to consider if it's Fun!

Fun for the defenders of 27? Well if they bring up tanks instead of Planes yes it might be.


Fun for the attackers? UNDOUBTEDLY!
The one base in the whole map that a tanker can get to in 4 min flat instead of 15 to 25 minutes of steady crawling.

Give it a try yourself some night, IT's a HOOT!

I'm sure the terrain editor is going to be released soon makeing this a null issue anyway.

For those of you truly twisted individuals
with a need for speed I have a suggestion.

Roll NE out of 23 some time. Now this is a SERIOUS Hill!

v56 and v43 are the two most fun v bases in the game

get to a fight in a few minutes from 56 and smash a city from 43  

its seriously fun.

 Sorry to confuse the issue..I did not mean to imply that you were crying. It was just meant as a generic term to denote Mass calls for either ditching ground vehicles, or getting them fixed.
