NOE
« on: August 12, 2008, 07:51:34 AM »
To avoid showing DarBar, the help pages read 500' alt, but the guys I fly with say 200'. Could someone please clarify this for me. Also, does the man-ack need to be down for Vbase/Port capture. I'm getting mixed info on this also.

The "help" page is correct. Most tell people 200 ft so that they don't break the 500 ft level.

Manned ack at a VBase doesn't have to be down for a capture, but is always best to take it down. It has a direct view of the map room to pick off the troops. Both auto-acks have to be destroyed for a capture.

Most NOE missions require you to fly under 200 feet. I try to fly at 100 or lower if possible. As for the manned ack it depends how close it is to the town. If you are dropping troops and the manned ack is in range it will kill the troops.

Radar alt in AH is 500'.  Many players came from Air Warriors where radar alt was 200' and many of those simply assumed it was the same and propogated the myth.  I know I thought it was 200' for a long time.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

Please correct me if I am wrong but below 500' no blips will show on radar, below 200' no dar bar will show.  This I believe is the reasoning behind 200' or less.

that may possibly be correct if you are only refering to Friendly Dot dar ( not showing below 200 ).. ( no true verification )

but in every instance for enemy radar bar and enemy dot radar, it is as Lusche has posted you need to be under 500 foot AGL.......to be NOE

I have seen instances when in different arenas where I have lost both a friendly and an enemy dot on radar...but I have always thought of this as just an abnomally ...........most times you will only lose the enemy dot dar when watching a fight via radar/clip board

It may be 500' in AH2, but say 500' in a country advertised mission and you will easily get 500'-1000' "volunteers".

Requiring 200' is really a pretty intelligent "buffer"...
