2008 NFL Thread
« on: August 14, 2008, 08:44:59 AM »
Well, my team has lost 3 starting wide recievers (DJ Hackett to free agency, Dion Branch to a serious knee injury and no Bobby Ingram to a shoulder fracture.  It's not looking good for my Hawks.

How's your team shaping up in this pre-season?

I really like the Cowboys chances this year. They have a strong O-line and Romo appears to have finally matured.

Steelers look good, First Team Offense scored on 8 plays in 4 minutes, capped it off with Santonio Holmes TD. Charlie Batch broke his collar bone after trying to scramble.  Got to see Dennis Dixon (Rookie from Oregon) play.

We look great, but have a really hard schedule. One of the hardest in the NFL according to countless analysts. Dallas comes to Pittsburgh in December, Saving up now for tickets  :aok

We play Buffaronto tonight, in Toronto. LOL.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Things would have been cool with the Bucs if we had picked up Favre.  Things may be good this year here if Gruden stays with a quarterback long enough to let him do anything.

And the New England Cheatriots with the easiest schedule in the NFL this year. Go figure. :p

I'm still a Rodgers hater, but he did impress me a bit in the preseason game, but not the scrimmage the week before.

He may be hit or miss somedays.  I think the real question is, can he stay healthy.  I'm interested what the Jets will be like this year.  I'm sure many of you are sick of him and the 'circus', but that is for another thread.  I grew up with Brett and will always remain a fan, as long as he never plays for the ViQueens or da Bears.

Yeah. we played them last year at home, and again this year. They should at least be forced to come to Pittsburgh.

Been watching Hard Knocks on HBO about the Cowboys training camp -  pretty cool show. Being a big A&M fan, I was happy when Martelluss Bennett was going to the cowboys.
But after watching the show last night - It looks like he's got some residual "Big fish in a small pond" syndrome leftover from his Aggie days. If he gets his attitude straightened out I think he can be a suprise playmaker for the Cowboys.

We've been saying that about Pittsburgh for 10 years out West! :D  Matter of fact, I can't think of the last time Pittsburgh has played Seattle out west!

Well....the Rams continue to be stupid by letting their talents leave to free agency instead of wanting to resign them.  Only thing I can say is the defense has gotten stronger but the offense is lacking with little dept at WR kinda surprising to say since the Mike Martz system and Steven Jackson is still on holdout.

If only they can stay healthy this year.....

At least your teams have QB's.  Here is Chicago we have a hard fought out competition between Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton.  I like Orton and hope he wins the completion.  I dont get why the Bears didnt look at Chad Pennington, Leftwich, or try and trade for Chris Simms.  All you guys are worried about your team.  At least you guys dont have the problems of the bears.  Probably worst team in NFL.

Go Bears :cry

Come to think of it, I don't remember any games played out there either.
