Accidental AW Nostalgia Trip...
« on: August 15, 2008, 02:17:35 PM »
I Just happened across this old Air Warrior site that is still up and mostly still functioning.

Browsing the old terrain maps really took me back, I spent way too many hours flying them, and knew them like the back of my hand.

I also just downloaded a couple of the wallpapers. You can even download a copy of the last DOS version. Just to let you know how sad I am, I still have that version running on two old 486DX2's that are connected for Head to Head play. If you visit the downloads link though be careful, under the "misc" heading I clicked on the "answers" file and my virus software informed me that the zip contained a virus.

Anyway, check it out here:

Yes, you can download the game, but I'm not sure if it will run on a modern computer running under XP or Vista. It may be a waste of time downloading it unless you have an old PC running DOS that you can install on. Unless anyone knows better?

I'm sure he'd be able to run it through a DOS emulator.

You know, if the AW website ring still works, you could probably find a bunch of sites still up.

Download "DosBox"
And if your like me and just want tobe able to play an old dos game without learning or relearning all the old DOS commands. get something called "DOSblaster"
Install and configure.
Then right click on the executable file and pick "Play game"

I havent tried it with AW yet but I know it works on an XP machine with old dos games

LMFAO from there:

Example if you fly P-51

YOU CANNOT turn fight with 109, Spit, Yak, P-38

YOU CAN turn fight with 190, P-47 and A-26

YOU CANNOT out run a 190

Actually sounds more realistic from what I have read on WWII....

yet now in AH:

YOU CAN OUT TURN ALL 109's

YOU CAN OUT RUN a 190 (all)

you can't deny in game that is true (*exception 109 E can maybe get inside in a turn fight with a pony)
