Does anybody know how to keep the songs on my ipod yet use a diff. itunes library? I got a new compy and i tried to load itunes but it says i have to erase my ipod and to use this compy's itunes. I have about 1600 songs and really don't want to re load all of them.

One of the many reasons that iTunes SUKS.  There is  a work around but they really do expect you to dump your library every time you get a new puter...

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  You're MUCH better off getting a Creative Zen MP3 payer, purchasing music from Amazon MP3 (which doesn't require a 3rd party application) and keeping your music files organized in neat folders.  I find it amazing the amount of people that don't even know where the folder is that iTunes stores their music in.

I got a Creative Zen a few years back. After a while it pretty much fell apart.
I have an iPod Nano that is still going strong after... a year and a half now IIRC.

Where are the songs originally from? Your old computer?  Just copy the iTunes library files onto your new computer.  It's pretty simple.

 I've never tried this before, but, you can download another program, LimeWire, it's not as good as Itunes, but it's free, and it have every song, just not in every single format. So, use iTunes for your original Mp3/Ipod, and Limewire for the other.

Select manually update movies and music. Then drag and drop songs one by one to the ipod songs list.
