I would greatly appreciate it if any of you Korean War afficianados can correctly identify the individual that General Eisenhower is making eye contact with.  This can be found under Google Images with a search on "Ike's Generals" and is the first pic that shows up.

The caption reads:

1952: President Dwight Eisenhower (1890 - 1969) with Generals Mark Clark (1896 - 1984) and James Van Fleet (left) in Korea. (Photo by MPI/Getty Images)

This is a little misleading.  General Mark Clark is on his Ike's left and General Van Fleet is on Ike's right (left as your looking at the picture), but in the background.  I thought this would be an easy Google search but I can't find any other pic of the individual in question.

My wife is the youngest of 14.  The oldest in her family (deceased) was the recipient of a purple heart during the Korean war.  The person giving the award was a four star general and looks just like this man.  It's the only matching shot I can find on the web and his name is not listed.

I'll try to post a pic when I get home.

Thanks in advance!

It's not Bradley, Sheldon, or MacArthur.  Facial structures don't match.  I've tried several Google searches but nothing yet.  Thanks for the suggestions though.  Still looking...   :salute

Not even remotely close.  No scrambled eggs on the hat brim and his entourage is a lot smaller than the President's, also coupled with the fact this was taken when Eisenhower was President, Truman fired MacArthur during his presidency.

It's not Gerneral Van Fleet, as he is in the picture I posted at the top and is listed in the caption.  He's in the background between Ike and the person in question...

I've been looking for months, literally...

Looks like the commander of the 1st Marine Division, Major General  Oliver P. Smith.  The one behind Mark Clark is General Walton Walker commander of the Eight Army.

Googled an image of General Smith.  Doesn't look like a match.  My wife's brother, the purple heart recipient, was a marine.  I'm guessing the four star general handing the medal to him in the photo I have would also be a marine.

I wasn't able to upload the pic because the web host I use was down last night.  Will try again tonight.

I appreciate all of the guesses and suggestions.  Still looking...

That doesn't look like a US military hat, my guess is he's a Brit General. Sad that there is so little uniform visible to help identification.
