I know I'm going to be very sick doing this, but I've got to disagree with people's comments that adjust game sounds down is 'gamey', at least by the definition I think of. I guess this sort of means I'm agreeing with BiPuke. God I hope not, but maybe.
Anyway, HiTech specifically put in extensive controls to adjust and modify game sounds to suit the individual player, including turning them all the way down. For my part, I need some small sound feedback so no sounds are all the way off, but many, such as the ones mentioned, are turned way down.
It's smart. I was intended by the game creator for players to do this, and it's easily available to everyone, so I don't consider that 'gamey'. Further, I have a some hearing impairment and certain sounds and some decibels are more distruptive for me than the average hearing person. So this helps me be able to hear what's going on and play as well in GV's as others.
