How about toning down the AI AA in the early war and a little in the mid to reflect older type AA weapons for bases and fleets.

I'll second this, especially regarding the CV groups. The EW bomber / torp planes shouldn't have to contend with US 1945 AA fire.

Flying the "low" performance slower planes from that era, it is a lot harder to avoid the laser-ack. I have no problem with the manned-ack and 5" guns, since they are human-controlled, but the auto-ack needs a bit of adjusting, imho.
