refuel on pad
« on: August 22, 2008, 02:05:35 AM »
can we make the refueling on the pad a bit different, the longer you wait the more fuel you have?

Sounds like someone wants instant re-arm and a couple of gallons of fuel to continue his kill streak.

Sorry, I think it works just fine as it is.  Unless of course, you want to wait however long it took in real life to re-arm a plane.  What was it, like 20 minutes or something?

Close to that. A book I read on the flying tigers mentioned the ground-crew had the re-arming and refueling process down to a fine art. They could re-arm the plane and re-fuel it in 30 minutes.

let me give you an example
longer you wait the more fuel the tanks will have until its full you leave early then you have as much as they gave you,
basically the same, just if you leave early you wont have a full tank and if you took off with like 50% fuel then you have the ability to
up with 75 or full if you wish, just wait a little longer....

imagine a nascar pit stop...

I like this idea, it allows the option of changing fuel load whilst on pad and at the same time gets rid of the 30sec insta refuel. Assuming times would be like:

25% - 30 sec
50% - 60sec
75% - 90sec
100% - 120sec

So if I move off after 45sec Ive just uplifted 37% fuel. If I were to depart after 15secs Ive only got 12%.

I like that idea.
Also I think it would be better if you could chose new ord. or guns, not like when now when it just gives you what you took off with.

the fuel idea I like, shouldnt be too hard to implement.

gun/ord changeout? been discussed before, bad idea. Took too long to do and you may as well .ef then chose another ride.Hanger chief is a real nice guy,he'll let you crash as many as you like.

Or less.

Still wonder why ppl cares to rearm :huh Stop being score potatos already.
Only real reason to rearm/refuel is dead FHs imho. Reloading bombs/supplies/troops if they are not available is bug and must be fixed

Agree completely. :aok

When and where to refuel/rearm is personal choice. If somebody wants to rearm on a field with a CAP on it  (believe it, I have seen them do it) I say let them do it. Its their $15 too. I think everyone has a right to be wrong. :)
What I am suggesting however is a method of allowing the system to begin to approach realism. Personally I would prefer if refuel times were based on per gallon rather than %, but that I think would be one of a real minority and the work going into it wouldn't be worth the outcome. :(
Would I spend 20mins on a pad rearming? No. I don't even spend 30secs. But for those who do care, let em have it. If they care enough for score, they can keep it up. If you don't care for score, whys it bothering you if someone else manages to pad up his? :lol

To get even more dramatic, why don't u go to a spot by a hanger and stop ur engine. A truck will come along and ask the pilot how much he wants filled, you could answer if you have a mic, or type in the answer. He fills at a normal rate and when completed another tractor pulling weapons comes along and he does the same thing, you watch as the men rearm your plane and place new bombs on the plane (or w/e ords u want).

Of course this means:

Trucks(fuel) have to be developed for computer use, could use this also to develop medical trucks for when a wounded pilot returns to base

Men have to be developed more to show walking, talking and moving of the arms, the basic movements of the human body

Scenery would need ladders to get on top of the wing to rearm bullets and clean plane, stretchers etc...

Tractor and attachments need to be worked on to have this shown and the bombs or other ords placed on top of the trailers

Computer lag time: for people with slower graphic cards it would slow down there computers some, and cause more lag but i personally believe it could be done in an acceptable manner.
