Worked at a place that got a lot of packages filled with foam peanuts.  Saved all of them and put them in plastic garbage bags hid them in every storage closet, underneath desks, etc.  Finally had enough to fill up my boss's office.  Left the door open a crack, blocked the lower part of crack, filled from the top.  Wasn't 100% packed, but sufficient to make a real impression.    I was late the next day, but heard it was awesome.

Tilted this guys locker on its back then filled it with the foam peanuts,closed the door and stood it back up and put it back in place.
the look on his face was priceless. and he never left his locker unlocked again.

Different occasion. Using a screwgun. I screwed my bosses lunchbox to a workbench.. We all thought it was funny.
Him.....not so much.
He went stomping into the Dept managers office and I thought my arse was toast.
I was wrong.
The Dept manager also thought it was hillarious.
After thinking about it. My boss eventually did too.

Same boss. different incident.
We were standing in the far end of a long hallway that lead to the parking deck elevator lobby where there were a bunch of visitors were waiting for the elevator.
Now I should mention at this point my boss was a BIG man. Much bigger then me. Easily dwarfed me.
But for all his tough talk. He was like a Baby Huey type, a pure puddycat.  (EDIT::question for language MOD. WTF is a thumbcat?)
Anyway.
We are standing there walking about some work that needed to be done in the area when I suddenly got this idea. I looked over and noticed everyone standing at the other end of the hall and nobody looking.
Next thing I did was cowered and hollered out.

"Owe! Im sorry John! Please dont hit me again!"

So now everyone is looking at him and he's stuck just standing there with this big dumbfounded look on his face.
He just looks over at them and says  "But,,,I didnt touch him!"

I start laughing, then the people realising I was busting his chops start laughing. Then finally he starts laughing.
Finally he says to me "Im really going to kill you one of these days" LMAO

Just this week I pranked the pool that I managed at before heading to college.

I got to close the previous night so when all the life guards left I set about my work. I love making life hard for the morning shift since there is nothing to do at 0530. I pulled out 200 feet of extension cord and wrapped it around every chair, desk, and door handle in the Lifeguard office. I then set up all the CPR dummies to look like they were in the chairs. Then I got our two sinking sams (full body dummies designed to practice water rescues with) and set one up in the guard stand and one in the water. I shoulda gotten pics. Long story short all the guards thought it was hilarious, the manager... not so much.

I usually view humor as a waste of time... not useful for much... time could be better spent being effective instead of lolligagging.  [Kinda a sick outlook for someone to have]  Oh well, got a kick out of that one though.

I like to think of myself as organized, my office co-workers thought I was A.R.  I had a place for everything (in & on) my desk and every night before I went home I made sure it was where it should be.  One night one of my co-workers super glued everything where I had it....even glued the paperclips down inside my desk drawer tray.  Took the entire day and nearly a whole bottle of fingernail polish remover to regain the use of my gear

You laugh, I've been through it.

Years ago we had a crew who apparently lacked adequate supervision and enclosed 3 offices during a fairly large and high profile build out. What really sucked is that it was discovered during a client walk through.

A few years before that at a different firm we had a coworker who had meticulously restored an old Jag back to better than new condition. We heard every detail of the process every Monday morning for what felt like forever. Finally finished, he drove it to work ONCE to show it off and a few photos were taken. The next week "somebody" put together a For Sale flyer and distributed them among the neighborhood lunch spots, Jewel bulletin boards and the board in the shop.

Poor bastid almost went crazy for a couple of weeks fielding calls about the $500.00 parts car he was selling.

Open office door. Insert live chicken with food and water for a week. Close door.

Not really an office prank, but I did manage to avoid Suspension back in 1991 in my Senior Year of HS.    I got detention for the remainder of the day as I played a prank that was talked about for years after.

I asked one of my buddies to bring in three live chickens from his Uncles farm.   I paint each one with a number.   "1, 2 & 4".     The morons searched all 2500+ lockers looking for "3".    They never found it because it didn't exist.   The principal was furious that they "had been outclassed by teenagers."    I was in tears of laughter all the way to the detention room for my 2 hour sentence.   

Looking back on it, I wouldn't have changed a thing.   I later ran into the Asst. Principal shopping and he instantly knew who I was and said "Thanks Jay because that prank had me laughing for years at various times."

Look for an office calendar called "Dares for the office."  They have some good ones. 

My favorite thus far -- walk up to a co-worker of the opposite sex while that person is in conversation with other co-workers.  Blurt out "I've been thinking, last night was really a mistake, I don't want a relationship, lets just forget about it."

When perplexed said co-worker asks what the heck you are talking about, wink knowingly and say "EXACTLY!  Let's just pretend like it NEEEEVER happened!" and walk away.

If you've never done anything like this, you'd be suprised at how destructive to property this sort of thing is.  Expensive.

My favorite thus far -- walk up to a co-worker of the opposite sex while that person is in conversation with other co-workers.  Blurt out "I've been thinking, last night was really a mistake, I don't want a relationship, lets just forget about it."

When perplexed said co-worker asks what the heck you are talking about, wink knowingly and say "EXACTLY!  Let's just pretend like it NEEEEVER happened!" and walk away.

Followed shortly by a visit from the HR director and a lecture on sexual harassment, accompanied by a demotion and note in the personnel file to never allow you into a supervisor position.  Pretty funny, how the whole company will be calling her a potato behind her back for the next year.  Effing hilarious.

I love those "Dares for the Office" calendars. I bought one for my dad for his B-Day last year. I actually read every single one of them in 1 day.

I read of a few, try these if you want.

if you can take apart a phone of a co-worker take the hand set and in the mouth piece just behind the slots in front of the microphone put a piece of lunch meat. in a week or so there will be a horrendous smell whenever they talk on their phone.

you can do the same thing with their chair. if you can slip a slice of bologna below the top layer of their chair.


as head of IT another great one for the PC illiterate is to take a screen shot of their desktop, move all items into another folder on the C drive then make the screen shot their desktop background. they will spend 20 minutes double clicking on fake icons.

a last one is the put a piece of tape holding their mouse ball in place (or a piece of tape with a black patch covering the LED for the optical mouse).
